On February 25th, Reddit, Inc. demodded /r/The_Donald's core moderator team, leaving us with far fewer resources than we needed to operate the subreddit.
This came as no surprise, since Reddit, Inc. had spent the last four years openly plotting to kill the largest forum in support of the President.
For context, our moderators did 42,567 manual mod actions in the month prior to the demoddings, dealing with user reports and patrolling the community to seek out trolls and content that may have violated Reddit's content policy - and many months that number was 2-4x higher, depending on the newscycle
In addition, our own bots would take up to 250,000 monthly automated actions on top of up to 150,000 from AutoModerator. And in a new initiative from mid January to late February when we were demodded, our moderators reviewed an additional 134,000 comments that our systems flagged as high risk, not included in the other bot statistics. Each comment was manually reviewed in context for anything that could be against Reddit's content policy, which resulted in approximately 2,500 of those comments being removed, erring on the side of caution every time.
This firmly placed us as the best moderated community on the whole site, but since Reddit, Inc.'s policy lead, Jessica Ashooh, is an employee of George Soros, /r/The_Donald had to go.
The Donald is the first Reddit community to successfully transition off of their platform, these are some of our stats so far.

I found out about this place from /pol/ just now. I was on T_D in the early days and it was glorious. Best times I've had on the innerwebs. And then they kicked out the OG pizzagaters. So I went to v:/pizzagate...that got boring when we had digested all of the leaked documents available.
Then, I went back to T_D and got a 3 day ban for questioning the official narrative on the Vegas shooting. Now, I'm an anon...it sucks because you don't get to build relationships...on the other hand you can't be targeted because you are anon.
Point being: /pol/ is going nowhere...yeah, there is a lot of unwanted noise, but filtering that out is a skill you learn. And then you start noticing digits. It's weird.

Primary reason for this may be that .win is searchable in all the engines. Google hasn't delisted it (yet) so all the wanderers who got lost after the quarantine came back home.

It's probably at most a few hundred a month. Bandwidth is relatively cheap these days, so the limiting factor is likely the servers themselves (CPU + RAM).
I'm guessing they use a cloud service like AWS, unless these mad lads actually built their own servers. AWS would be a few hundred a month. Custom servers would be several thousand upfront, but you'd only have to pay for internet and electricity after that.
It also helps that TD.win's developers aren't Python shitcoders unlike Reddit's "development" team. I've seen first hand how terrible developers (many of them were libs too) can make an AWS bill go through the roof.

Can you please start using "www.thedonald.win" in advertising rather than "thedonald.win"? For most normies the ".win" top level domain is really confusing. It's even more confusing for them when you don't put a "www" in front of a website. I know all of the cool hip people know what "thedonald.win" means but we have to grow this user community wider to everyone.

I'm so thankful to everyone that maintains and improves this site. I've been here since it was first made public and I have to say, it has come a LONG way in a very short amount of time. It's actually quite incredible what motivated Trump supporters can do. I never get tired of saying how much I love this site, first for taking me away from commie reddit, second for making it a better experience as time goes on. You people are truly great.

As I've heard it from mods, they will be called DonJrs. Other users (not mods) have said they will be called subwins. Either way, they are planned for the future. I have no idea how quickly, but IMHO just keeping the platform stable is a monumental task and should be top priority. The site has been under incredible DDOS attacks. Plus major improvements keep happening almost daily,

I see a lot less upvotes on this site than we had on Reddit - are people not upvoting? Did people use automatic upvote tools?
If I would hazard a guess it is because of reddit's sucky algorithm. Stuff that managed to get to the front page would cling there seemingly forever. A post on new had to gain massive traction to get to the rising page, and if it didn't make it tot he top of rising, it would never get to the front page. This would leave the same posts sitting on the front page for 24+ hours at a time.
The turn over on the front page here is much more natural, which may result in lower upvotes and, potentially, fewer interactions per post on the front page, but HIGHER interaction and upvotes on everything else.
This looks like the answer. The front page only got new posts two or three times a day, meanwhile here new posts show up throughout the day.

Wow, those are some incredible stats. I'd like to share a few points that will hopefully elicit a reply.
It's just unreal the amount of modding work you guys put in during those last few months. I don't even understand how someone does that unless it's a full time job, and as far as I know, nobody was actually paid for it. But the fact you reviewed hundreds of thousands of reports/requests, then got completely shit on really shows how evil Plebbit is. It also teaches a valuable life lesson: never negotiate with terrorists, and never apologize to liberals. It doesn't matter what you do, it will NEVER be enough. Lesson learned.
Wow! Again, I must ask, how in the world are you affording that? Seems like it would be extremely expensive. I wonder if we could some how coordinate a distributed hosting/storage solution among users who have very high speed fiber connections, using something like IPFS? Just some thoughts, because these bandwidth costs are only going to increase in the coming years.
Another valuable lesson is that in the end, it comes down to people. Anyone could go start their own website. So what. Without a good user base, the site would be dead on arrival. The reason the risk in making TDW paid off, is that the users came with it (along with an awesome site design). The most high energy, fun loving, politically engaged user base on the planet is what made this new venture work. So always remember, it's the people that ultimately make everything work (we are seeing just how valuable we all are during this quarantine, by noticing what happens when the people disappear).
Last point: when the new list of top level domains came out, many people mocked them. Why in the world would someone want a .construction or .plumbing (yes, they're real) domain? Nobody really knew what people would do with them. I was unsure myself. So I just wanted to say that I am very glad we've been able to do something awesome with an alternative/non-standard TLD.
