I agree with the concept you proposed, however knowing all the machinations of our opponents they would "inadvertently have a different feeling about what percentage of the product is really made in America, after all: 80% is almost all so it qualifies for inclusion on the listings - got's to protect my feelings about my employer being classified as less than a true American.

My daughter-in-law's parents immigrated legally from Mexico. A bunch of her relatives have been returning because it is booming there. In the parts without cartel violence, and that is most of the country, she says it is doing better than it ever has. Her family are all educated and professional. Also BTW they despise illegals.
My son married into one of those families. DIL's parents spoke only English at home until all kids were fluent. They have reverted to Spanish now and all the kids are literate and speak both well. They are tired and usually speak Spanish, but if they see I don't understand they switch to perfect English and they know I want to improve my Spanish. Great people. Despise illegals. Honestly, the way to limit illegal immigration is two fold. Remove the incentive in the destination country and improve conditions in the home country.
