Explain to me why China would release the virus in China and not the US if they wanted to hurt the US. China is being blamed by the entire world, had suffered financial losses, and will likely face even greater losses when the dust settles.
It makes no sense to purposely release the virus beside their only biolab, knowing they'd be blamed, if their goal was to hurt the US. Simply saying population control is not a satisfying explanation. Given the choice of it being an accident versus your explanation thus far, it's an easy choice.
