Governments, which are just a bunch of humans, around the globe were fed misleading information and didn't know how to react to an "omg we're all gonna die" event. The virus could still be a way to take down the west. Only time will tell. I hope.

I have a buddy in NYC - a Trump supporter and the gayest dude i’ve ever met - who likely had it. His co-worker’s husband tested positive for it and the only symptom he had was a persistent sore throat that seemed to move around the throat. Buddy came down with the same sore throat and he said it lasted 3 weeks.
I rarely get sick - 3 times between 2010 and 2019 - and got hit pretty hard by something. I was mindful and noticed it coming on though - energy level lower than normal, and some slight burning irritation in my trachea. Never got tested because it seemed pointless to me to pay money for a test that may or may not work (test seems to have a fair number of false positives). My symptoms started about 11 days ago and just today i feel like i’ve gotten over the hump and am starting to get better.
Totally agree with your sentiment about this being used as a tool to try to unseat GEOTUS. Those evil maniacs will do anything and don’t care who or how many they hurt in the process. I wonder if the CCP released this engineered virus on purpose with the main goal of disrupting our 2020 elections.
I'm really curious about the antibody test. I got a sore throat at the end of February. It was really weird in that it came on quick and the worst of it lasted about 5 days. I even called and got a doctor's appointment because it had been so long and I wasn't feeling better at all. It got way better between the afternoon I called for the appointment and the next afternoon of the appointment so I cancelled it. Still another week before I was 100%. That was my second unusual cold this year. The first one in January was one of the worst I've had in a decade.
I might catch a mild 24 hour cold every year but nothing very bad. I don't get sick often. I'm also at many sporting events and travel a lot. I'm really convinced one of those two cases I had it. I got better right before all these lockdowns and have felt spectacular since.
I know two people who got the virus. One had flu-like symptoms for a while, and the other basically like a cold for a week. Neither of them live around here though. I know nobody locally who got it.
I had it. The only lingering effects were the cough (like all bad colds) and, for 3 or 4 days after I was back on my feet, I was expelling mucus in quantities that I never have in my life. For days, every time I blew my nose, it would soak the Kleenex. Every time. It was fucked up. I bet about 4lbs of mucus came out of me in 4 or 5 days. At the end of it all I had lost 14lbs in total. It was just like being really, really sick, but I never felt like I was dying. If you've ever had the flu, its not unfamiliar territory.
It is serious, but instead of working on solutions our "leaders" (Trump excluded) are only hyper focused on taking advantage of the situation for their own ambitions, thus adding greatly to the sense of chaos and panic.
I think Trump saved many lives. Not really due to the shutdown, which was mainly states overreacting, but instead early on, Trump talked to doctors and found what worked and talked about it alot. I think it possibly could have been worse here(not Fauci prediction worse though) if doctors didn't know how to treat it early on.
So in my opinion, since we have an effective treatment, I don't think the complete shutdown was necessary, Trump's original guidelines and HCQ+zinc would have been fine.
I do think we need to produce HCQ here though and I hope somebody is working on that.
