forgloryofkekistan 21 points ago +21 / -0

Me too man, past few weeks I've been coughing a lot and I know for sure its cos of smoking. It's such a struggle trying to quit, I just keep relapsing after I stop for a few days.

Skaush 19 points ago +19 / -0

Yeah man but keep trying. I quit for 2 years once and then like an idiot decided to have a cigarette thinking it’d be alright. Now I’m right back where I started. I gotta believe I can do it again

I did the same thing man, I quit on 31st December last year and didn't smoke for 1 and half months, got into a habit of working out every day and stuck with it for that duration. I was feeling great, then one day my friend was smoking and I thought what the hell, one won't hurt. That day was the end of my workout routine and i dived into the deep end again, smoking 1 pack a day sometimes. Its just fucking had to quit, nicotine just latches on to some behaviour you do before you smoke and gives you the craving every time you do that behaviour, it's so fuckin hard to disassociate smoking with whatever that behaviour is.

Skaush 10 points ago +10 / -0

I think you nailed it, it’s largely habitual/mental. I get in the car, gotta smoke. I take a break, gotta smoke. I eat dinner, gotta smoke. I think the trick will be to replace that behavior with something else. Glad to know we have a solid Donald Smoker’s Support Group though!

Im actually trying to quit again . Luckily due to the lockdown the kinda cigarette that i like to smoke are hard to come by so ive not smoked for 2 days now .I also started working out as a replacement to smoking. I need to tough it out for a week or two atleast and then im home free from those damn cravings . Something great that works for smokers cough, if you have it ,is steam ventilation. It relaxes your throat and your lungs and help in the cleaning out process, having some citric fruits or even pineapple is a great way to keep your health in check if you cant quit smoking. Ive been doing that while i was smoke so that i have some control over the negative effects that nicotine and that nasty tar produces

I switched from smoking to vaping at 5% nicotine, then gradually went down to 0% over the course of like a year. Now I'm on week 3 of no nicotine at all, which really wasn't too hard to do, when I finally made the switch to 0% nicotine vape juice I noticed I was a little irritable, but nothing like back when I smoked and didn't have cigarettes. Anyways, that's 3 weeks of no nicotine, but I only just finished my 1st week of no vaping, and that's turning out to be a little more difficult because like you said, it's a habit. Right when I wake up, after I eat, when I'm bored etc I get a strong urge to reach for my vape (which I can't anyways because I threw it away). What I've been doing is chewing gum instead.

That's what I did, except with the cartridge ones because they're much more convenient to carry with you everywhere and I don't care about blowing clouds. But yeah, I started out with the 5% Juul, then got a different one with refillable pods and gradually worked my way to 0% I'm on about week 3 of no nicotine and just finished week 1 of no vaping which even without needing nicotine is a little hard to stop. I've been chewing gum any time I feel like reaching for the vape (which I don't even have anymore anyways, threw it away).

This is going to sound too simple, but from a psychological and mental point of view, it absolutely works. Take 5-10 minutes, 3 times a day...first thing in the morning while in bed, last thing at night before sleep, and noon-ish. Relax your mind steady your breathing and visualize yourself as a non smoker. Don’t build a case, you know all that... only see yourself as a non smoker. Don’t think about how or when just see the result you want. This time is only to imagine and visualize yourself with the result you want. Vividly as possible. This programs your mind telling and showing your conscious and subconscious mind what it is you want. Whatever we dwell on in our minds, that we sincerely want, manifests, or becomes reality. It may take 60-90 days, but what’s the big deal? It costs nothing, your in bed anyway. Proverbs23:7 “as a man thinks, so he becomes.” See it in your mind and the rest will follow.

Is knowing about the Globalist Pedo-cannibals and living in a socialist country (Canada) run by them give me enough excuse to smoke?

7
Elecon 7 points ago +7 / -0

Right? Thought the same thing.

Something that would seem so easy to do turns out to be one of the hardest.

Staying home 24/7 with all this time on our hands doesnt make it any easier.

5
Skaush 5 points ago +6 / -1

This is the first time I’ve ever bought a carton of cigarettes. I never do cuz I smoke more if I have them. Definitely proved to myself that I can’t be trusted with em lol

6
Warren_Puffitt 6 points ago +6 / -0

I've smoked since I was 13, except for one 6-month stretch when I had enough distractions to help me quit during a deployment when I was in the Navy. I started again the day after I got back and noticed the bitch whore of a wife was still there. I'm 66 now, many decades beyond -and fully recovered from the abovementioned disappointment, but I'll admit...I loves me some cigarettes. I just wish Medicare would pay for them...or at least my weed...lol, jk.

RiverFenix 3 points ago +3 / -0

Same. Thought I was SO smart a few Friday's ago when the world was in panic mode and I had a weeks' worth of smokes...

1
Amethyst 1 point ago +1 / -0

I second this!

I smoked a pack a day for over 15 years and I read Alan Carr’s book and quit cold turkey. That was 5 years ago. Before reading the book I believed that I was too addicted quit and that it was going to be a waste of time. I really never thought I would be free of cigarettes, but it worked!

To be fair, I blame most of the medical errors on pharmacy technicians. The doctors aren't the ones packaging the doses inaccurately, mixing the wrong IV liquid amounts, or worse--just completely getting the drugs wrong.

I say this as a former pharmacy tech with some experience, btw. I watched a 17 year old laugh because she misfilled an order causing a delay that left a woman to die in severe pain.

Most people don't know that in many states you don't even have to be 18 to be a pharmacy technician, take any classes or even prove you can do math, or have any formal paperwork beyond that of a state license which is available for purchase to anyone working in a pharmacy.

And these are the people mixing your grandma's IV.

She was 17. Most 17 year olds in the US don't really understand death or know how to respond to that stressful of a situation. She should have been flipping burgers or scooping ice cream, because that's the amount of responsibility that should be handed most 17 year olds.

... I should point out that this facility pretty exclusively served the medicaid nursing homes in the area, so they paid as much as the local McDonald's and I'm not exaggerating. Sort of a necessity, with how low reimbursement is. Also, it's legal in my state for anyone over 16 to become a pharmacy technician. It's sort of obvious how that setup is going to end: children making mistakes while underpaid management looks away.

If you think it's unacceptable, I highly recommend you lobby your state which surely has a similar legal situation.

First, look up your own state laws on these issues. It should be easy to find, just check out some pharmacy tech resources. Your state's problems are probably different than mine, though I'm sure there's some flaw in their system.

Writing letters is okay, especially if you have a rep that seems to respond, but honestly it's hit and miss: politicians seem good at ignoring letters they disagree with. Protest and showing up to meetings works to push the public on an issue, but I've never seen it work with the elected officials in power. Calling seems to just take the time of an intern, but it seems to work sometimes with local officials on a small scale.

The best way to lobby your state on any particular issue, from what I've witnessed, is to join a local political organization and try to move the organization to your view, or to start a new one. Through these organizations, you get to meet politicians before they even get elected and can help turn the tide on issues. You have access to the ears of donors and bundlers. These small organizations are the foundation for your state's political parties: use them. (It is a lot harder than just writing a letter or sending an email, though. Sorry.)

I know you joke about this but I am a recovering smoker (bad enough that I was smoking two at a time on the regular) so I still have the cough from time to time. I also get wrecked from tree pollen, usually all the ceder in our area. so on the rare occasion I go to town for ammo and to fill up on that sweet $1.55 a gallon gas, people tend to stay away on their own.

This shows we need a meme page.

I had someone on 4chan ask if we were going to expand.

Anime, sports, guns, and I really don't know if we'd need much else.

Voice started to get rusky, rough sounding. Smoked for 45 years,, I know. Went to VA doctor, 2018 April 28th. May 8th 2018 had voice box removed, due to tumor grew through it, stage four cancer. I know. Been clear since and YES haven't smoked since. Point being, I now have a hole in my throat, and can't talk, but clear to this point, no chemo, refused. STOP smoking people, it no longer makes you look cool, it is not healthy, and life in general, is far more important.
