Funny how these power trip governors always forget to mention that their illegal and unconstitutional orders have not been upheld by the courts. Give it several months to play out and state after state will be found in violation of Federal law and the Constitution.
SCOTUS has upheld state's powers to enact public health orders on multiple occasions, dating back to 1824.
Similar measures (ban on public assembly, curfews/lockdowns, and even masks) were imposed during the 1918-1920 influenza pandemic.

I think Pence telegraphed their intent by noting that the President has additional power during a state of emergency. By requesting a declaration of state of emergency, the governors have effectively invited the President to act as he sees fit.
What happens if GEOTUS removes state of emergency declaration? Or ends National Emergency?
I don't expect that to happen until we are back to some resemblance of normal.
