I do most shopping online, only go to the stores for fresh veggies, dairy, meat, etc. I shop at Walmart, Amazon, eBay,, other online retailers (which don't list country of origin). So, here's some crap I've recently paid for. God willing, GEOTUS is going to redouble his efforts to bring manufacturing sanity back to America.
Some of my list. What's your list?
-
50 clear plastic soup containers with snap-on lids, so I can share meals with my neighbors. The lids don't fit.
-
A wind-up alarm clock because I'm in a rural area and the power goes out a lot. Took the clock out of the box, turned it over to wind it up and found that the wind up key was missing.
-
A pair of fuzzy women's winter slippers. Opened the plastic bag to take them out and the reek of insecticide was so powerful I actually lurched backward. Put them outside for days to air out, finally threw them away. Had to wash my hands a dozen times to get the reek of insecticide off.
-
A women's light spring jacket size 2x (for a large heavy woman). The jacket might have fit a severely malnourished first grader, maybe.
-
A pair of slip-on oven mitts to take hot dishes out of the oven. The pair I received barely fit over a single index finger, and not even all the way down my single finger.
-
Two large fat cinnamon scented candles. I opened the package and the smell was...kerosene? Gasoline? Something in the petroleum line. Threw them away.
I could go on and on, with deep-felt THANKS to our politicians over the past couple decades who allowed (profited) from this happening to America.
Your list?
Your first mistake- not carefully sussing who you are really ordering from and what.
Your second- buying online when no country of origin given.
Your third- Walmart, that is almost entirely China goods now.
My recent online purchases were Kohls and Target clothing carefully checked for made in- primarily indonesia, one item of about 45 in India. Some Mexico. All same quality as in store.
Recent in person-
A thrift store for a few carefully selected items in excellent condition I needed but did not want to pay max cost for.
Personal toiletries at a chain, US made, minimal chemical ingredients, discounted price for good product.
Gardening goods- soft pots US made, soils from same region US, locally grown organic starters.
Masks 3M US made.
Not the point, of course. America needs to bring most if not all manufacturing back to America for so, so many reasons. We just, must. GEOTUS has been arguing for exactly this since the 1980s, but nobody listened. Politicians were making their own deals, selling away our manufacturing to line their own pockets.
If we had any other President, I'd feel pretty hopeless about all this. But we don't have 'any other President,' we have our President, so I have hope.
And THAT is what your opening statment should have been.
The anecdotal list of China made purchases and request of others' same is your supporting reasoning.
