Bernie conceded, but he kept his delegates and said he hoped to get more. This can only mean they're planning for a contested convention which then allows the DNC to literally pick anyone they want to be the nominee, even someone who wasn't previously running.
If they were suicidal, they could even pick Hillary. Most likely they will pick Cuomo. He said he doesn't want the job, but that sounds like pretentious posturing to me.
From what I understand you have to have a certain number of delegates to secure the nomination. If that threshold is not met, the decision goes to the DNC to pick the winner. Now, common sense says, pick the person who had the most delegates, which would be Biden. But I think everyone knows he's a complete moron so the DNC will pick someone else, but it won't be Bernie. The unofficial list is Cuomo, Michelle Obama, Hillary, and most recent I've heard is Mark Cuban.
Bernie will still be on the ballot. So Joe isn't a shoe in just yet. The Bernie bro's are awfully pissed off so look for them to make a statement. I think it was all by design to be honest. DNC pulled Bernie aside and said drop out, you remain on the ballot, it will be a contested convention. The DNC picks who it wants because nobody is buying that Biden is a viable candidate. There is no way Biden could successfully debate Trump and come out a winner. What they offered Bernie, I don't know, a new house maybe.

The DNC will do everything they can at this point to woo Bernie supporters to vote for him, even though he's no longer running, just so they can force this contested convention.

It works like this: Just before the convention, Cuomo or really anyone they want, will declare themselves as a candidate. They will of course have zero delegates. But because the convention is contested, all delegates are up for grabs and can be reassigned to ANY candidate.
By holding on to his delegates Bernie can force a contested convention and then use his delegates to influence who the DNC ultimately picks.
But IMO, there is NO WAY they will select Biden. Instead they will get a nominee that has not had to take any position, not attended any debates, not been vetted at all. They can choose anyone and completely bypass the entire election process up to that point.
After the first round of voting if no one has the required number of delegates they vote again and I believe that second round those delegates are not even bound to vote for Biden
