It was March when this guy started voicing real concern. What's the point of having that position if they can't contemplate new and unique pandemics before it trashes our country?

You are asking for the impossible. They have developed a vaccine and got it to human trials in 65 days, thats literally the fastest its ever happened in human history.

No one outside of China knew this was a thing until 12/31, and the first couple months we were working off of unverified data China was providing. It wasn't until Italy got rocked that we started to get accurate data about this thing.

As far as having a plan for a pandemic, you can’t put the plan into action until you know how the virus is transmitted and how infectious it is. Thats why you saw the social distancing messages start coming out in March.

I know this unprecedented and there will always be a "should have, could have" people, and the response is also unprecedented/impressive. My problem is, how did he not have enough foresight to say in Feb. "this could be a problem, the information from China is sketchy, and we should take some extra precautions." I mean Tucker Carlson showed more concern than head of the NIAID. Just seems careless and nonchalant to say "miniscule risk" while China is welding people in their apartments.
