When I joined the Donald on Reddit I used the same username that I used on Facebook. Because I read things about people being banned on Facebook for things that they'd written on Reddit.
Sure enough I started getting banned regularly on Facebook. Now I use different logons here and on Facebook, which is a half-truth but a deliberate one. Sure enough my Facebook account stopped being banned when I stopped posting on Reddit. If you are on the fence about Publisher or Platform maybe this anecdotal evidence will help.
