This is BS.. they, and other companies are using the virus as an excuse to fire people they wanted to anyway.
So true. I a few weeks ago they announced laying off a bunch of gig workers in CA based on new regulations. You can guarantee those will now be blamed on Covid.
They probably didn't think ahead and thought their jobs were insulated from this.

The backbone of the MSM runs off ad money. They get some personal money from places like China but nothing that would keep companies running on its own.
Everywhere closed and I would suspect when it does get up and running again. Many companies will be downsizing. Many jobs wont be coming back. Its just something companies will have to do in case there is another virus just down the road. As everything will close again.
The longer it goes on the worse it will be.
Media companies are just not going to be able to have a websites that makes no money anymore.
