Well... there will have been a huge unexpected drop in carbon emissions and contrails for about 4 months worldwide this year, beyond the goals of previous dreams. I should think climate fans on both sides of the anthropogenic argument would be thrilled to have this data to compare against weather. Ought to be good for years of new argument.

High-bypass turbofans (like the PW4000 which did the test flights on the Boeing 777 - 4000 pounds of thrust, zoom!) tend to have lower emission temperatures, resulting in larger water vapor particles that do not dissipate as rapidly as low bypass turbofans like on the MD-80. There was a NASA paper out of NASA Langley which disappeared from their website... because EPA mandated the high-bypass turbofans for fuel savings and being more quiet....
