Reddit is full of non-Americans jumping in and bitching about American politics. Its also infected heavily with Wumao who constantly work to exacerbate American political problems. Communists are freaking everywhere.
The action of HCQ is a viable mechanism for prevention of damage from cytokine storm and inflammation. Its also a zinc ionophore - which causes membranes to be less easily broken after viral entry and it increases lysosome pH -- which decreases the conformational changes that happen in the viral capsid that break it into the cytoplasm and inject the RNA payload.
The fact that these know nothing media shills are trying to downplay it has nothing to do with science and everything to do with political nonsense.
It really just amazes me as to the extent of the mental gymnastics they'll go through just to find the smallest technicality in a logical argument and cling to that as if their lives depend on it. Like if HCQ cured 98% of COVID patients, all you get in response is, "But the other 2%, tho! Anecdotal! Sources? No, those sources are no good! Muh Vox! Muh Forbes! Muh WaPo!"
With cognitive dissonance of that magnitude, it makes me wonder how these people are even capable of functioning in society...
