Liberals’ position is that voter ID is essentially a racist poll tax because (in their view and statistically), minorities are lower income and totally cannot afford (even free if it’s not a drivers license) a simple, basic state ID at the DMV. Objectively, this is their argument.
On the FLIP side, they’re essentially saying minorities are too stupid to get a free ID at the DMV.
Black people are dozens of times more likely to have warrants out for their arrest than white people. They are also dozens of times more likely to owe child support or be delinquent on other debt. All of these things would prevent such a person from getting an ID because they'd be arrested if they appeared at the DMV and identified themselves.
Its no mystery why Democrats oppose voter ID. Populations that vote overwhelmingly for them have issues getting IDs for a variety of reasons. Democrats would rather keep getting the felon and deadbeat dad vote than secure our elections.
Potential government retaliation for voting for WRONGTHINK canidate? Think Kim/Maduro/Putin etc.
But thats a very weak position as .gov already has more than enough INFO to come find you. Even if current voter registration has less vetting than a free magazine subscription.
