That's TRUMP'S check, bitches!!!! This is awesome. I actually do know some people who will have a momentary flash where they wonder if they will burn it instead just because of the signature.

They will then change their minds and use the money to buy hair dye, a used Vespa, and 20 pounds of raw organic almonds.

I have some friends that feel these stimulus checks were Romney’s idea. Oh yeah, these ppl are hardcore progressives. I guess that’s his new fan base.

cjcivicx 103 points ago +104 / -1

You mean, you have some acquaintances that are mentally retarded...

44
BestTimeToBAlive 44 points ago +44 / -0

Exactly! Stupid, uninformed & suffering from TDS

22
Ghostof_PatrickHenry 22 points ago +22 / -0

Look closely and you will notice a strong correlation between your friends/acquitances who have TDS, and those who are obsessed with and consumed by popular culture. (Hollywood, reality TV, etc.)

12
BestTimeToBAlive 12 points ago +12 / -0

They’re all performing artists themselves. And not just as drama queens but legit in theater, dance etc. Very few conservative or libertarian or even informed ppl in the industry.

9
DemRefugee007 9 points ago +10 / -1

Wonder why progressives support taxing productive people to wipe out student loan debt.

6
snoopy3210 6 points ago +7 / -1

Romney talked about it but the idea was already being discussed within the administration... in fact the entire stimulus was sadly planned by the banks

1
AenAllAin 1 point ago +2 / -1

I have so much compassion and regard for people dealing with mental issues like retardation ...that are naturally or involuntarily occurring. ...the ones that choose it as a lifestyle, not so much.

I enjoy the lighter traffic (when I need to drive at all), and treating myself to local take-out and coffee once in a while. Just trying to make the most of things.

My county just started mandatory face covering rules. Except for when I go shopping, I'm just going to pretend I didn't hear about them.

3
Belgian_Rofl 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm going to pretend I didn't hear them at all; no letter in the mail, but I have to notify you by mail for everything? Can't say that you've notified me. Fuck your useless facist bullshit feel good policy that treads on my freedom of expression.

3

22

its sort of sad, really. Im pretty mad about it. I will never forget who caused this shit show.

13
tchouk 13 points ago +13 / -0

In 1920, the dollar wasn't a debt-based fiat currency. The Jamaica accords wouldn't have been possible even in a nightmare.

Everything is debt-based now. The problem with debts is that you can never stop paying or the whole system goes tits up.

9
rooftoptendie 9 points ago +9 / -0

jubilee, baby

i'm rootin for it, at this point even people on zerohedge are seriously discussing this as a possibility, which is really weird for ZH.

7
tchouk 7 points ago +7 / -0

Oh it'll happen eventually. When it does, you want things like antibiotics, food and other survival essentials to be produced locally for the entire supplies chain, which is what Trump might be going for. Convert unreal fake value into real physical assets.

If all value in all financial instruments disappears, we'll all be fucked for a while, but the actual physical stuff like mining operations and factories and farmers with their tractors aren't going anywhere and if you have enough of them under unified supply chains, you can get through the crisis without going Mad Max apocalypse.

1
Sumarongi 1 point ago +1 / -0

No because the same problem will just return. Defang the Fed, (or take it into control by the treasury, and out of the central banking cartel, like Trump has done) and monetize the national debt 1to1 with debt free greenbacks (and replace fed notes)

Look up Bill Still. He has the right ideas about this

I'm not saying that gold backing is a solution. I don't know the solution, it would probably have to be something complex and based on physical reality and time (like man-hours). Gold is only good as a lasting investment, and even then it is worse than buying land.

But I do know that you cannot have infinite cash. You cannot take out new debt to pay back previous debt forever and keep calling the ever growing bubble of debt "assets".

What sort of asset is it if it disappears immediately and in totality as soon as you say "I'm not paying it back"?

Debt-based currency is going to fail eventually, the debt "assets" will become larger than the amount of physical reality in existence to support them, and it will bring the current civilization down with it.

No, I was talking about an objective measure of value that is universal and independent of a government deciding on whatever metric they feel like. In this sense, even bitcoin is better because it is at least a function of something real like computing resources and power usage.

Fiat currency is purely a function of a government's whims and which change with time and policy and policy makers, meaning that the value of your savings in currency is also a function of the government's whims. That a government can sometimes try to use some objective measure is not a function of the currency, it is a function of a more sane government, which is just not something anyone can rely on.

Like a socialist government in the US can half the value of your dollars on a whim, in order to spread them around to the needy and fuck reality with its objective measures.

Where the fuck do you get this shit?

This is probably the stupidest fucking thing I’ll read all day.

Ain’t nothin’ that says a non-backed currency has to be debt based.

Where the fuck do you get this shit?

This is probably the stupidest fucking thing I’ll read all day.

Ain’t nothin’ in what you qouted saying anything about what you're ranting against.

It is a fact that the issue of debt base falls to shit if you stop paying the debt. What does that have to do with your rant? The op didn't say that any non-backed system has to be debt based.

Why did you take what he said, create a straw man, and argue the falsehood of the straw man that YOU created?

Are you snopes? Because that's what Snopes does.

Ceteris paribus, that's correct. But it's not ceteris paribus because as others already pointed out, they forced the shutdown. It's not like the economy failed without intervention.

Is it bad? Yes. Would it be better to not do helicopter money? No.

How? Bump

1
SirSeizureSalad 1 point ago +1 / -0

I just hadn't done my 2019 taxes yet, so I did them with a check request and removed my direct deposit. I did this when the stim packages was still being bounced around. Too late to do it that way I imagine.

2
tufftoffee 2 points ago +2 / -0

I just found on the IRS website there may be a way to do it. I already got my direct deposit however so too late.

1
SirSeizureSalad 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ah maybe, I know from the presser yesterday they were saying that if you did not receive it by next wednesday or something, I forget the day, that there would be an added form on the IRS site to check and correct your info, or even add direct deposit info.

You can cash it online and then burn it, pretending you didn't cash it.

4
ZacPetkanas 4 points ago +4 / -0

You can cash it online and then burn it, pretending you didn't cash it.

We're going to need some clever 'pede to edit out the deposit endorsement for a "burn your TrumpBucks" video so the trend will be to show that it's unendorsed before it's burned.

2
InTheGame 2 points ago +2 / -0

Use an erasable pen. Cash it online. Erase the ink, and boom. "Unendorsed" check.

1
ZacPetkanas 1 point ago +1 / -0

I was thinking after I posted that some clever editing could probably actually use the check unendorsed. Do the parts that are required with an unendorsed check, cut scene, deposit check online, restart the shoot. A little post-processing clean-up and voila!

1
Isolated_Patriot 1 point ago +1 / -0

Predicting this will be a big trend online.

3
Ithrowawaay 3 points ago +3 / -0

Definitely more practical.

First round of 80 million citizens receiving their paper check in the mail this week would cost 44 million in postage alone.

2
TenFeetHigher 2 points ago +2 / -0

The IRS noted the cost is about $1 per paper check and 10 cents per DD.

1

If you make over $99K, you don’t get a relief check. So if you live in someplace like California where 55% of you pay goes to taxes and housing costs are 3x normal, you are screwed.

Working hard to make a good living is a little depressing. You get no benefits from the government, but you have to pay for everyone else’s benefit. Government only works for the unmotivated and the super rich.

2
WeThoughtYouWasAToad 2 points ago +2 / -0

The same shit-ass Democrats who bitched about the 10k limit to SALT deductions in high-tax states had no problem with a $75k phase-out and people who make $100k or more getting NOTHING.

They never cared about "the Middle class". They only ever cared about poor people (those who make <$75k) and the rich (those making ~$500k, the highest tax bracket), and the rest of us are just garbage to them.

They don't want us investing, they don't want us starting businesses, they don't want us to do shit but CONSUME and be brainwashed so "hopefully" our kids are stupid jackasses who roll back into the working class instead of repeating our mistake of trying to get ahead and (shudder) join the ranks of the elite.

Nothing rich people hate more than nouveau riche people.
