In recent weeks it was the first time ever where I scrolled down the front page of Reddit and literally closed the app just because there was so much garbage everywhere. Like I wouldn’t even care if it was all pro trump, I don’t subscribe to political subreddits because I want the politics separate from my feed but now it’s everywhere.

The fastest downfall of a subreddit I saw was the coronavirus subreddit. It was originally used to discuss the spread, treatment, studies, and effects of the virus. Now it’s basically like they took any post which would normally be in r/politics but if it mentioned coronavirus it would go there instead.
I even saw a front page post on that sub discussing universal basic income. How is that relevant?

I use it for technical subs. And even then just Bing it and look at the top result for a quick answer. If nothing then right on to actual site forums. Dedicated sites still provide better results than the crap shoot that is reddit.
I'm not sure how reddit stays popular. My younger brothers don't use reddit whatsoever. It's ancient technology as far as their concerned. I think reddit will go the way of dam near every social media site has. It's just how the market and media works.
