The virus is not the flu. It's significantly worse than the flu.
It also is (as best as I can tell) probably not bad enough to merit shutting down the entire global economy. That being said, I have the benefit of hindsight PLUS we have already significantly flattened the curve. A month ago, it was way scarier because the virus was wreaking havoc on NY, Italy, and most likely China (despite their poor cover up job)
In a nutshell, there's a HUGE difference between "flu" and "end of the world pandemic". I think this Corona is somewhere in the middle. It's definitely more than a flu though
