Asked if my Doctor (CT) was able to prescribe Hydroxychloroquine.

The response was "I do prescribe that medication for a few patients for their chronic rheumatologic issues, but no, not for COVID. The medication has no evidence that it actually helps, and so is only being used in hospitals for those who are severely ill with COVID related illness."

WTF? Are they worried about having their WHO membership card pulled? What's a pede to do? Is this a State thing? Is there a list of Doctors who will prescribe?

"The medication has no evidence that it actually helps, and so is only being used in hospitals for those who are severely ill with COVID related illness."

this sentence is illogical - it doesnt work so we use it on the most ill lol...ok

Id bring up how their statement was logical and then request to see another PM who had basic logical skills down versus someone who repeats the narrative like a commie piece of shit

Doctors are acting like faggots. I asked my doc for it back in February before it had blown up in the news. He told me no.

sun_wolf 19 points ago +19 / -0

I asked my doctor yesterday if she even had the authority to prescribe it. She said no, that there was no evidence of any benefit, Trump was pushing it falsely, and we need to listen to trusted sources like the WHO. Nice girl, but totally brainwashed. I told her the WHO is a corrupt organization and there are studies around the world that HCQ is helping, but at that point she just wanted to change the subject. Eventually I think these people will be forced to admit that yes, HCQ is the cure. They will probably cling to their narrative that “Trump suggested it too early, it’s not a question of was he right or wrong, it’s a question of did he overstep his authority by promoting the cure before the doctors did?” Their own pride forces them to twist reality to make themselves right, even when everything they say and do has been wrong.

Time for a new doctor

The younger the doctor the more closed-minded they are.

So true, the best books are by older and more experienced doctors. "Overdiagnosed" was a great book. The VA doc who wrote it talks about how he nearly killed people by following standard protocol and changed his ways

So sad to hear that, it's not the way it's supposed to be.

All pedes need to check their State Medical Board website.

Many of these unelected state medical boards are prohibiting doctors/pharmacists from prescribing/dispensing HChloro with threat of discipline and/or loss of license.

The politicians are saying whatever they want to the public, but the medical boards have the power to quietly keep us from the treatment. Time to pressure local reps with this knowledge.

4
Sneker [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Thanks. CT says "allows use for hospitalized patients"... "DPH strongly advises against off-label use... as there is not enough safety and efficacy data at this time."

Sounds like we're being held hostage by Fauci.

2
Aspielogic2 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah. It's a rollercoaster.

Learn about Hchloro success across the world on TD - "my family can still be safe if someone gets it". Look into things locally - "we may actually be screwed because of some unionized Trump-hating bureaucrat"

That's why I'm putting the word out here and on Reddit (using up my Karma) for people to check locally and then pressure their Reps to override the medical boards where they can.

Even the lefty haters on Reddit are messaging me with shock that 'it's just not available' in their area. I guess the life and death of things has got them confused; they are used to bitching about something/someone but still having their asses covered.

They also seem to buy into the media sales pitch that 'we're all gonnna die' - their uneducated, panicked messages are a comfort to me.

I saw a post yesterday about some "e doctor" service that said you could do a visit with a doctor over the internet and if you qualified they would ship it to you. I believe the service was $60. Sorry I don't remember more about it than that. But good luck finding them.

for those who are severely ill with COVID related illness

This is the problem, and is how they're going to sabotage it. We all know that it needs to be prescribed early for maximum effectiveness. All of the lefty doctors will conspire to only prescribe it late, then turn around and say "see, look, it doesn't work".

Thankfully, South Dakota is doing a statewide clinical trial. I eagerly look forward to their results BTFOing all of the cucks who are cheering for this not to work.

If your doctor says no to Hydroxychloroquine, you say no to accepting care from your doctor.

These medical “professionals” will change their tune when they suddenly have 0 patients to pay their salary.

WinstonSmith1984 9 points ago +9 / -0

Yep. I'll walk out the fucking door, and tell him why

9
KoKoPuf 9 points ago +9 / -0

I asked my doc last week and said he could not prescribe it unless I had symptoms. He did say that if I developed any symptoms that he would prescribe it for me. He also said that he would take it himself.

Thanks, this one says "**Hydroxychloroquine/Azithromycin is not FDA approved for the treatment of the Novel Coronavirus."

I thought I heard the President say it WAS FDA approved?

7
DisgustedByMisleadia 7 points ago +8 / -1

The FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). That's not an approval. The FDA essentially said: the potential benefits outweigh the risks.

However, the EUA was limited to the hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine in the Strategic National Stockpile. It was distributed to public health agencies, with the intent that they distribute it to hospitals for treating the severely ill.

Hydroxychloroquine is FDA approved in the US for humans, and can be prescribed under "off label use". Chloroquine is not FDA approved, but apparently the SNS received a large donation from Bayer, and they needed the EUA to distribute it.

The EUA to release the drugs from the national stockpile should relieve the pressure on the retail pharmacy supply chain, so doctors can prescribe it.

Do you have COVID-19? If not, wait for a bit to see if it works for prophylaxis. There are several trials ongoing, and we should have initial results by 7/1.

I'm also interested in its use for prophylaxis, as I have a family member that could benefit from it.

4
Sneker [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

I think I had it the beginning of February. Really wanted it for prophylaxis for family.

I get occasional KungFlu updates from the Doc, thought I'd get her view. Disappointed to say the least.

3
DisgustedByMisleadia 3 points ago +4 / -1

Once the production lines get going again (we weren't making it in the US until this month), it should be more widely available. In the meantime, we need it for the people that have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and the other disorders treated by hydroxychloroquine.

3
Aspielogic2 3 points ago +3 / -0

In a few weeks, the US will have more hydroxychloroquine on hand than it has ever had. Good news for the daily-use people and for the rest of us - maybe we can eventually get it for prophylaxis, instead of only because we are sick enough to go to hospital.

Teva shipped 6million to US hospitals last month and will have shipped another 10million by mid April.

Mylan is the US company that started production in West Virginia last month and had enough ingredients on hand for 50 million tablets. They now have distribution happening.

India's Pharmaceuticals Association has confirmed the first shipments to the US are ready and should arrive next week.

I’d also probably ask if I could have the Democrat treatment instead. People like that really piss me off, which in turn causes me to want to return the favor in kind with vigor.

6
letrain 6 points ago +6 / -0

Only legitimate sentence here is "being used for those severely I'll with covid". I could also see that has a valid reason for not prescribing it to everyone.

There must be some Dr-only news network to promote the narrative. On an unrelated conf call a Dr on the call asserted that there were no successes with HCQ ever. Totally brainwashed gen-X'er.

Your doctor is a moron.

Did you choose him on purpose or was he the only one that took your insurance?

Anyone taking bets this doctor is a diversity hire?

3
Sneker [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

No insurance, She's young, but not a diversity hire. Small practice I subscribe to. But, uh... rethinking.

5
remindmelater 5 points ago +5 / -0

I believe there is some kind of hidden or secret rule where doctors don't want to prescribe certain medications unless you get hospitalized or get a serious infection. Hydroxychloroquine may be one of them and obviously this is done to increase the number of people hospitalized. The other is antibiotics.....they simply don't want to give them to you until after you get a serious infection (which is too late sometimes) and sometimes even then you have to beg them for it. It's a shame doctors feel that rules are more important than people.

residue69 8 points ago +8 / -0

Medicare (the taxpayer) pays a $13,000 bonus if a China Virus patient is hospitalized and a $39,000 bonus if the hospital can make them sick enough to require ventilation. There's no bonus payment if an inexpensive off patent drug works to prevent hospitalization.

You don't need a medical degree from an Ivy League to see that killing your patients can pay off your boat in no time.

Really as soon as this is over just move. You know why our deaths are so low here in Utah? We can get HCQ and the doctors have prescribed it from day 1. 19 deaths over 2,000 tested cases.
