A friend sent me a clinical trial that shows hydroxychloroquine does nothing for COVID-19. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.10.20060699v1?fbclid=IwAR23fnkIxfvOrwjYyeZCHwRpnLFGgUlV95zKuY46MnYdajr8y_Q6PhzSKPs

I don't know what to believe anymore.

My friend misrepresented the study based only on what his friend said. I cleared it up with him and told him to never do that to me again. He's too damn trusting.

YOU NEED HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE PLUS AZITHROMYCIN !!!.

This study is on hydroxychloroquine used ALONE.

You need BOTH. And possibly zinc.

It's good they published this, but it is "old" science. The treatment in question requires TWO drugs, with the possible addition of zinc as a third.

This is not a clinical trial. This is a research paper which gathers data from non-trial participants (therefor uncontrolled) and ONLY addresses those patients which already had developed pneumonia and required supplied oxygen.

There is nothing in this research project which indicates HCQ has no clinical efficacy at all, it only purports to have researched outcomes of use in patients that were already the worst shape.

Also, it's not great research. The study only includes 84 individuals from four French hospitals that received HCQ within 48 hours of admission as compared to 97 who did not, making it far to small a cohort to glean any deep meaning. That being said, the group which did receive HCQ did show better results, it's just that it was by such a small amount as to be considered statistically insignificant.

If your friend told you that this research project shows that HCQ "does nothing" for COVID-19, they are either outright lying to you or they simply don't understand what they're reading. This shows that the four French hospitals reviewed used an HCQ therapy that had little discernible effect on those patients which had already developed serious pneumonia and required supplied oxygen.

I just found out he never read it. On the phone, he told me his friend gave him a clinical trial that shows HCQ doesn't work and he sent it to me. On further review by me, the trial only took adults with SARS-CoV-2-positive hypoxic pneumonia. Hypoxic pneumonia is bad news. It means you are dead by organ failure if you don't get hooked up with oxygen. I let my friend have it because he led me to believe the study showed HCQ doesn't work and that he had read it. Here's the kicker. His wife has COVID-19 and has been in and out of the hospital several times because of it. She's getting better on her own now. I've been telling him about HCQ for two weeks and for two weeks he's been giving me the media response which instills doubt about HCQ. I wish I could find out his "trusted" source of news because that would explain a lot.

I know know if 3 people through coworkers that got the wuflu and then the trump pills and are OK now. All happen to be black. 78, 82, and about 30 ish. So don't try it at your own peril. None went on vents, the two older one spent about 2 days each in hospital under observation. 30'somwthi f said they felt better immediately after starting the Trump pills.

It's not a peer reviewed study and it was using data collected from other SARS covid strains in 4 french hospitals on severe cases. I wont say there is nothing too it, but it is far from definitive.

The only people chosen had SARS-CoV-2-positive hypoxic pneumonia which is bad news. HCQ is apparently too little too late at that stage but looking at the fine print it still noted that 2.6% died with HCQ and 4.8% died without it in one week.
