It's the Great American Reboot. I don't think he engineered the panic but he's worked the opportunity to perfection. He killed Woke Culture, Public Education, the National Media, and the DNC. He also diminished the DC establishment and let the States publicly run their own affairs for better or worse. Now he's finally giving a voice to mandatory voter ID. I'm sure killing the CCP and the Puppet Masters is also in progress. Not bad for one monihs work.

Edit; left out Globalism and Open Borders.

There was an interesting essay on Medium which kinda addressed this topic.

The writer was concerned we'd jump back into the rat race (with help from advertisers, etc)

And he pointed out like you have that maybe there are some things we should hang on to.

(I doubt the writer is a Trump fan, but here's the link if you're interested. Maybe it will give you some ideas for your theory)

People actually cooking again. Stopped by Walmart last week to check on a few items. Stopped by the aisle the flour is in. Gold Medal is the family favorite brand followed by Pillsbury since I was a kid. Normally its full. Completely sold out! Only Walmart's brand was left.

This is Chicago. Absolute shocker in a great way.

There is something to what is being said here, though. Given how Democrats work, they do tend to pretend to change sides, and be even more extreme than the Republicans. I came to be a 'Democrat', in the beginning, in the course of rebelling against the government. I am still rebelling against the government to this day. Now I am a Republican. Nothing changed about my views.

12
Jakelive 12 points ago +13 / -1

You are making too much sense. Are you sure you're not an Independent?

2
Siteless_Vagrant 2 points ago +3 / -1

If all you're doing is rebelling against the government, why assign a title to it? You sound more an anarchist than a republican.

2

Democrats...they do tend to pretend to change sides, and be even more extreme than the Republicans

The Democrats' changing sides to me = watching my dog playing whack-a-mole with the irrigation sprinklers. With Trump's every move, they frantic from one treasonous act to the next, and have long lost any sense of logic or reason to their current state of panic and irrational scrambling.

10
V_exodus 10 points ago +11 / -1

They do seem to shoot themselves in the foot at every turn. Hard to believe anyone could be that stupid. But combined with the hatefulness, it's like a cosmic plan in play for evil to get it's just due. Possibly they are just so petrified by potential loss of power (and indicted players) that we are seeing just how foolish desperation is making them. Trump has some things to announce that are going to change our world. Like the 6 now declassified patents the Navy /Space Force has for mind boggling advancements. Having it happen during Trump's presidency will elevate him to status the Dems can never hope to tarnish.

5

I still think those declassed patents were just there to fuck with Russian intelligence. Or maybe Chinese, or both. You might remember a story earlier this year out of China, about how they have some device that creates more heat than the sun, due to fusion reaction. Sounded like BS.

If they're NOT BS, I want the goddamned hoverboards I was promised, and I want them NOW.

Doesnt make sense because if they were really concerned about the country, they'd just cooperate and reap the easy bi-partisan public relations goodwill. It'd because win-win in that case IF they actually cared about the country more than themselves.

Instead, they're destroying their reputation while inhibiting the president. This is only explainable by a primary desire to hold power.

Trump: "Hold my lemonade".

We're going to get "Hey 45 states, the feds say open up. Keep your distance... but open up! Other five states, sucks to be you."

So... they're going to be screaming "Why can't we open!" and "Why do they get to open?!?" and "Hey we're too open ... all at the same time.

People trying to subsist from government hand outs. This is their utopia, might as well complete the look with tanks.

He won't of course, he's using this as a bargaining chip, and a means to get the word in the mainstream about how Bad the dems have been holding everything up, and how he's had to work around it to save lives.

Never was sure abt. McConnell. IDK what to think. McConnell’s wife is Chinese, Elaine Chao, and she is the current United States Secretary of Transportation, appointed by POTUS. Did everyone forget? Her fam has connections to China and I never quite figured that one out, didnt really ever like the sound of it all, but if I said anything, I knew I would have gotten my butt kicked off T_D for concern trolling, so I still do not know much of what is going with her, Mitch, her fam, etc., or what others think about it.

5
ADAM_SCHITT 5 points ago +5 / -0

Obviously Trump appointed her as a favor to McConnell to try to get him on his side. It's worked in his favor for some things but McConnell is still an establishment fuck who needs to be replaced by someone who will MAGA.

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +3 / -2

"Concern troll" has to be the gayest thing ever to pervert the internet. Like, yeah, Turtle's wife is Chinese. That could actually be a problem, ya know? Maybe we outta look into that and find out. If it's not a problem then great.

1
MW23232 1 point ago +2 / -1

I agree. I guess concern trolling was designed to prevent shills from thinking up every thing in the world to make us wonder if POTUS was maybe doing something wrong, get us wondering if he was making the wrong decisions, - just planting doubt & questioning every single move he made, in other words, so we doubted/questioned needlessly. But here is no doubt here. Mitch's wife is Chinese and her family has some deep roots over there. If we can figure it out if there is a reason Mitch doesn't do certain things, or does, and it looks almost suspicious at times -- and it seems as if we need to dig into it, like it or not, we have to know what is really going on, for the good of our country and us.

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +2 / -1

Yeah, Turtle seems to me to be a weak link at the very least. Lindsey Graham may have said some pretty decent things, but what has he done? Is he trustworthy?

And Bill Barr is either DS or terrified of them. I think realism isn't "concern trolling." I think it's important to acknowledge our own weaknesses. Even if we can't vote out these 2 characters for fear of losing their seats to Ds. We should still know what we've got.

And while DJT is far more of a gem than I ever imagined when I voted for him, it's still very American to scrutinize him. Good journalism does that. I don't believe Chanel Rion would give him a pass on anything shady, for example. And there are other good ones, too; just not very many. But I see no value in "the other side of the aisle" getting to place their traitors around POTUS. All they're interested in is opposition research. It should be a campaign finance violation.

9
mykillk 9 points ago +9 / -0

Power Protection Mode. Couldn't have said it better myself, Pede.

12
nowrongwrong 12 points ago +14 / -2

I don't think this is Mitch's fault, Pede, but someone can please educate me if my understanding is flawed.

Mitch has been doing an outstanding job pushing through judicial appointments. I suspect that those only require a simple majority, which the Republicans have.

However Mitch has been unable to get any executive appointments pushed through. I suspect because they either need a larger margin than a simple majority, or you can't get them to vote until you get them out of deadlocked committees.

Keeping the Senate in pro forma session also prevents certain tricks from being played by the Democrats. I forget what those exact are, but I do remember the Democrats doing the same thing when they controlled the Senate just to keep Republicans from working around them somehow.

16
Thenew23rd 16 points ago +17 / -1

McConnell thinks he is POTUS. After Sessions recused, Trump wanted to fire him right away. McConnell threw a temper tantrum and joined with Graham and Grassley to promise Trump "hell," if he dared to do it.

So thank McConnell for the two nightmare years of Mueller's witch hunt. Also thank him for Barr, who Trump had to appoint in order to finally stop the witch hunt.

McConnell is shameless. He has opposed Trump on the most significant swamp draining issues. He is a disgrace.

3
nowrongwrong 3 points ago +5 / -2

There's a counterpoint. Trump wanted to fire Sessions, and Mueller too for that matter, because of incompetence. But think about how badly that could be spun to an idiotic public. Think about how stupid the average Joe Centrist is. Imagine every news outlet going on endlessly about Trump firing people to "cover up" his crimes.

Trump is not a political animal, and what McConnell and Graham were worried about was just how the media would spin the idea of firing a critic and or someone investigating you. They were concerned it could turn into a huge political bonanza for the Democrats and cost Republicans seats to both houses.

Long story short, I don't think McConnell and Graham were necessarily right, but you have to admit they know far more about toxic politics than Trump does. Trump comes from the world of business where everyone does what they are told by their boss without secretly plotting to overthrow them.

5
Thenew23rd 5 points ago +6 / -1

Who said anything about firing Mueller??? Sessions was recused, he was NOT investigating POTUS. He was also not doing his job. Trump had every right to fire him. Sessions completely misrepresented himself. Trump understood that he was getting a loyal, MAGA AG. Sessions doublecrossed him by turning the DOJ over to a Trump-hater. Plus, Rosenstein himself had signed an illegal FISA warrant. The self righteous, holier than thou Sessions should have DEMANDED that Rosenstein recuse himself.

McConnell, Graham and Grassley coordinated to help the coup plotters destroy Trump's first two years and severely undermine the rest of his first term. They acted treacherously and to the benefit of the deep state.

1
nowrongwrong 1 point ago +2 / -1

Who said anything about firing Mueller?

Trump did. He knew Mueller was a partisan hack, unfortunately the politics of the situation were such that Trump was stuck with him because it would have looked terrible to try and replace him.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/18/politics/lindsey-graham-mueller-probe-cnntv/index.html

I agree Trump lost his first two years to partisan bullshit but there's a whole helluva lot more Never Trumpers like Paul Ryan that were actually the ones driving in the knives.

2
Thenew23rd 2 points ago +3 / -1

McConnell, Grassley and Graham never threatened Trump re Mueller, not once. But they had collective heart attacks when Trump spoke of firing Sessions.

The GOP senate swamp would have loved it if Trump fired Mueller. They would have been in fine form playing to the media re their censure of POTUS for his attempt to thwart 'justice'.

Otoh, they threatened Trump shamelessly and aggressively over Sessions because they wanted Trump to be crippled by a DOJ that hated him. They are corrupt to the core. Why you keep defending the DC swamp is a mystery.

1
nowrongwrong 1 point ago +2 / -1

I mean, I've heard interviews with Graham where he says he drew a line in the sand over firing Mueller. The article I linked quotes Graham as saying he warned Trump about firing Mueller. There's a hundred other articles that say the same thing. Even if they are all "fake news" there had to have been at least some fear it was possible for people to come out, on the record, against it.

And, no, I'm not "defending the DC swamp" just because I point out the obvious truth that there are different tiers of swamp you have to wade through. We can't get rid of Congress in one election cycle; it's just not possible. Over time, perhaps the American people will stop reelecting the same shitbags term after term but that's a long term goal, at best. In the meantime you can either:

a) sabotage the Republicans enough that the Democrats get the majority

or

b) selectively blast, praise, or ignore Republicans so that the worst ones get sidelined out of leadership but can still vote the party line when it counts.

The Ryan and Romney types are the only Republicans we need to truly watch out for because they will actually vote against other Republicans if it means getting back at Trump. The McConnells and Grahams are just career politicians. Yes, they are swamp, yes they suck off and take hand jobs from lobbyists for all sorts of crony capitalism. But at the end of the day, they will still vote on the party line for no other reason than to shaft the Democrats.

Who would you rather see lead the Senate? McConnell with all his flaws or Chuck fucking Schumer? That answer should be obvious.

You don't drain the swamp by starting with your side. You try to keep enough of your side intact so that you can work to drain the other side, and then hopefully over time replace the worst from your side with fresh Trump-endorsed blood.

EDIT: typos

"Article II Section 3. He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in case of disagreement between them, with respect to the time of adjournment, he may adjourn them to such time as he shall think proper; he shall receive ambassadors and other public ministers; he shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed, and shall commission all the officers of the United States."

Oh God, YES! It's SOLIDLY Constitutional, with NO room for argument.

Watch all the far-left crazies/Marxists scream while all the self-proclaimed "moderate" swamp monsters start sweating. Watch as Trump achieves FAR MORE MASSIVE results in a few weeks/months with an ADJOURNED Congress than he did in FOUR FREAKING YEARS with an active one.

WATCH THE SWAMP BURN IN REAL TIME!!!

He needs disagreement of the houses to call adjournment. Right now both houses are in agreement to be shitty so that might not he easy. But he could at least force them to come to work instead of being on vacation in this time of "crisis."

3
NewVoatAccountName 3 points ago +3 / -0

If one of them is willing to work and the other refuses to stop vacationing, that's disagreement.

Badda bing badda boom, Congress go zoom zoom back to their room room.

3
Futuramawe 3 points ago +3 / -0

No, both sides have to disagree on when to adjourn, not when to vacation. Neither side is going to allow Trump to force them the adjourn because it's not in the benefit of a single congress member.

All that passage says is that if congress is convened, and cannot agree on when to adjourn, the president can adjourn it when he thinks it's proper.

3
CuomoisaMassMurderer 3 points ago +3 / -0

"I hereby make the motion that it is time to be shitty."

"Seconded"

"Motion carried. Shittiness shall continue"

1
Forte 1 point ago +1 / -0

This is correct. In order for either house to adjourn for longer than three days, they have to have approval of the other house in the form of a joint resolution. The Senate can't take a vacation without the House being okay with that, and vice versa. Typically they both leave at the same time. If I'm understanding the Constitution correctly (bet I am) then there needs to be disagreement between both houses about adjourning i.e. maybe one wants to but the other doesn't. I'd assume the House doesn't want to adjourn so that would mean the Senate needs to want to adjourn for Trump to shut them down.

SheepleMaster 2 points ago +2 / -0

Outside of rogue governors, they are the single largest political shitshow causing damage to our republic. They are no longer acting in good faith.

The absolute worst governor power grab is temporal peanuts compared to what Congress does (DOESN'T) do. Everything stems from the corruption of Congress. We have maybe 15-20 Representatives and Senators combined that care about our Country. POTUS had Congress for 2 years and they did jack shit - on purpose. Scariest thing for the GOP right now is the possibility that they take back the house, because then they'll no longer have an excuse for inaction like the last 12+ years. Only way back to these United States is gutting 85% of Congress. Best of luck to us behind layers of election fraud, MSM Congress dick sucking, RNC/DNC spoon-feeding us garbage ("well we gotta vote for our side, so..."), and general voter apathy. The 17th amendment fucked us but best case scenario, the 100 Senators should be our country's rock stars. The very best our states can offer. Instead, a state like California is represented by Diane Feinstein and Kumala Harris. No wonder we're in dire straits.

Here’s what I sent April 2nd:

If Nancy goes on another impeachment rant, here is what McConnell can do:

  1. Move to Adjourn the Senate on some date that does not match the House
  2. Declare an impasse with the House on agreeing date of adjournment
  3. Trump step in and declare date of adjournment for both House and Senate

Article II, Section 3: “... he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper”

They had planned for Hillary to be in office when they released the virus and locked us all in our homes at which point they'd bring in the one world government to deal with the crisis.

Too bad for then that the virus wasn't as deadly as they were hoping and that Trump is our president.

Our country is in a dire emergency right now, not from the virus, but from the deep state and politicians all with allegiances to the new order instead of to America.

We all need to be praying for our President, that he will be lead by the Holy Spirit to make the right decisions, make the right appointments, that he will be able to rightfully discern the truth from the lie and that the evil cabal trying to destroy this country will be defeated.

Here comes the Trump is a dictator narrative. Just be ready to remind the shills that Obama did something worse - he simply ignored the pro forma sessions and made recess appointments regardless, which was later held to have been an unconstitutional act by the Supreme Court. Unlike saint Obama, Trump is using clear constitutional power to achieve the same end.

In January 2012, President Obama made four recess appointments during a three-day recess between pro forma sessions of the Senate on January 3 and January 6, 2012, a period that was generally considered too short to permit recess appointments. The recess during which the President made the appointments was part of a period of Senate absence that, absent the pro forma sessions, would have constituted an intrasession adjournment of 10 days or longer. In an opinion regarding the lawfulness of these appointments, the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice argued that “the President may determine that pro forma sessions at which no business is to be conducted do not interrupt a Senate recess for the purposes of the Recess Appointments Clause.” The U.S. Supreme Court later concluded otherwise in a case regarding three of the four appointments. It held that, for purposes of the Clause, “the Senate is in session when it says it is, provided that, under its own rules, it retains the capacity to transact Senate business.” The three recess appointments at issue were found to be constitutionally invalid.

Or he could do like 0 did and just make unconstitutional recess appointments (while Congress isn't in recess) and while his actions were being slow-walked through the federal courts, his appointees had 3, 4, 5 years to make unconstitutional decisions in the various agencies that they headed. See e.g. LABOR.

Art 2 section 3 allows the President to convene the Congress and Senate, or either- and it allows him to adjourn both houses 'for such as a time that he deems appropriate.'

The short version, President Trump said get your asses back to Washington and get my Federal appointments on the fast track or I'm invoking this power-

This is more aimed at the Senate who have declared 'Proforma Sessions' in lieu of adjourning. That is, the Senate uses a technicality they created through rules to remain open for business even when not actually in session. Proforma Sessions prevent the President from making recess appointments.

By invoking the Sec 2 Art 3, he is telling them that he is willing to go scorched earth to break the gridlock on his appointment.

The number of crucial decisions against Trump has been low.

He's lost cases that are 'battles', but two things:

  1. even some of the losses set guidelines the D's will hate when applied to them (IMNSHO)
  2. Some attacked from different directions victoriously.

I do think Brennan got something on Roberts. Somehow that's at least sorta not a problem now. I don't know why.

Personally, I don't even care about pro forma sessions when the more important question to be asking is why the hell is Congress going on vacation for over half a fucking month in the middle of a national emergency?

Seriously, why? The vast majority of americans are out of work and facing financial strains they never expected in a million years, and the best Congress can do is go on fucking vacation?

Just what the fuck. Representatives and Senators need to get the fuck back to work and satisfy their duties unless they want to imply that Congress is an unnecessary institution. If we don't actually need them in a time of national emergency, as them taking a break from work would imply, then we never need them for anything anywhere anytime.

McConnel can solve this by simply adjourning the Senate until May 4th instead of this insanity of scheduling three weeks of pro forma sessions.

After three years of this nonsense, and considering the current national shutdown, I'd say the situation easily qualifies under the constitution. He'll ruffle a lot of feathers, but he's used to getting flack.

5
Trumpdidit 5 points ago +7 / -2

We truly need to rethink our democracy techniqs. We simply have to many chiefs in Congress, and no indians. All we need is two representatives per state. Remove the district stragety, as it is corrupt. One state rep for each party would be such a tax dollar savings, and we could get so much more done. The people who are wet logs currently, are a drain on society. Obstructionist, and dead weight.

10
Randalous83 10 points ago +11 / -1

First, we aren’t a democracy. Second, what you’re talking about, if even possible, would require completely rewriting the Constitution. The US has the best form of government ever created, but the populace has gotten lazy with civic responsibilities and the ones in power have run away with it.

In this case we have to turn the phrase around - Don’t hate the game, hate the players.

Shrike's Amendment 2: Every Federal elected official shall spend 10-of-14 days within the bounds of their mandate for at least eight hours a day. Violations shall cause an indisputable revocation of pay for that pay period, and a Judged-by-Jury possible revocation of the entire year's vesting in retirement. Congress shall enact methods for every such official to conduct all aspects of their official business from within their own jurisdiction. (Voting...)

The pay for these buggers is playing pattycake. The part that's the problem is allowing them as an easy audience for the well-funded lobbiests.

A few Senators have a little meeting with their gavel every few days to remain “in session”

This is what he was referring to that has kept him from making recess appointments

Yeah, the Republican controlled Senate

So behind the scenes, McConnell will call Trump to let him know they won’t be having their little gavel party and then Trump can make his 129 recess appointments

Ratcliffe included
