There's a lot of talk here about seceding from or splitting up NY. Hell, one town in my county here by Buffalo wasn't even part of the COUNTRY for 85 years haha.

Why not just remove Governors from Office, physically? So much easier and quicker. Make them stand trial for mass murder.

Cause it won't help. NYC will just elect another governor who is comparable to Cuomo, and the cycle will repeat.

Bring on the New Amsterdam project. NYC will still get to do whatever it wants for itself, its just the rest of us won't have to suffer for their idiocy.

If you're saying it wouldn't help to remove Cuomo I think you're not understanding the ongoing deaths that are completely preventable. Has it changed that in NY if you get a positive test you get Trump pills immediately?

Now in the long term I do see your point. Although voters may feel differently about things at the moment. By "the new amsterdam project" you mean seceding from NY State altogether? (Or maybe more like separating NY State from NYC, give that to NJ and/or CT?)

The New Amsterdam plan doesn't make new states per-say, but is looking at chopping NY state up into 3 separate autonomous regions:

NYC stays NY as a highly urban area

Long Island, Rockland and Westchester become Montauk

Everywhere else becomes New Amsterdam

It would all still technically be one state, because splitting into 3 states overall means you need congressional approval and all sorts of other federal hiccups. But, for most things, it would be making 3 mini-states within NY state
