FWIW, I’ve seen two published studies that demonstrate cotton masks and normal surgical masks provide no defense or prevention of coronavirus transmission. N95’s and PAPRS are the only thing they were effective.

Yet the entire Czech Republic halved transmission rates by wearing literally anything over their mouths for several weeks. T shirts, towel strips, anything, IS effective for preventing spread from your mouth outwards. The chain is ruined when one person decides they don't need a mask, expelling coughs onto everyone else.
