Non-indoctrinated state employee here. Bevin took the bull by the horns and almost singlehandedly stopped the backsliding of the worst pension crisis in the country that was only made worse when Steve Beshear 'borrowed' against it (illegally stole) and dropped the funding down to under 20% when it's supposed to remain above 80% at all times.
He knew the state was going bankrupt and people played off of the "But think of the teachers" angle to make him look like the bad guy. I absolutely DO think the teachers are entitled because throughout the entire thing they acted like the only employees affected despite every state cabinet also being involved. Every time it was called "Teacher's Pensions" on the news it grated worse and worse.
I saw everything first hand. He never took a dime of pensions already in effect. He stopped new ones and offered buyouts. But people lie and sensationalize. And now we have the son of one of the biggest thieves in Kentucky history
The current governor looks like a knock off Robert Francis Orourke
