They still think they can do that. Pelosi is a perfect example. In late Feb she’s saying Trump is an idiot for closing down the travel and everything is fine. Two weeks later she’s saying Trump didn’t do enough early on.
Part of the reason Trump does so well is that he actually knows how the modern media landscape works. That’s part of the reason he saw it as vulnerable and attacked it.
