The entire ride on Reddit shifted yesterday and they are calling anyone who doesn’t want to wear a mask, you guessed it, anti-maskers. They are talking about how terrible anyone is who doesn’t want to be in lockdown forever because they are selfish. It’s now 100% Chinese bots propaganda.

Anti-maskers unite

51
Aquamine-Amarine 51 points ago +51 / -0

I'm not wearing a fucking mask. Do these people actually think it's going to work?

46
Wheredidiputit 46 points ago +46 / -0

a cloth mask is not going to stop a 100 nanometer virus. it's stupid.

28
grenades_and_ham 28 points ago +28 / -0

It's only 1 piece of 3 to mitigate not eliminate any exposure. Minimum PPE would be - medical grade mask, gloves, and protective eye wear.

It's funny to see people wearing a mask then touching or rubbing their eyes thinking they are "protected."

Proper disposal of used PPE is key also.

Hell, I saw a guy last week wearing a make shift diaper as a mask. Oh well.

BTW - I refuse to wear a mask.

14
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 14 points ago +14 / -0

I watched an old lady at the grocery store, who was already wearing a mask, grab a plastic produce bag as she entered the store and put it over her head. She wore the produce bag on her head until she left the store.

These people are idiots.

Hahahah that tops my favorite one, the guy who made a hat of 6' pool noodles. I was unsure if it was for social distancing of if he was identifying as an attack helicopter.

13
Wheredidiputit 13 points ago +13 / -0

same. fuck wearing a mask.

9
Leatherwood 9 points ago +9 / -0

Not only that, people wear the same mask for days on end until it is completely nasty and carrying a maximum microbial load. Then they look at us like we are the ones spreading the virus or other pathogenic organism.

-2
Farmerbob1 -2 points ago +8 / -10

The mask isn't to protect you, it's to protect others around you. If the mask catches the results of your coughs, sneezing, and breathing, collecting droplets that are FAR bigger than 100 nanometers, then there is less live virus in the environment to infect other people.

11
randomusename 11 points ago +14 / -3

They are not effective at stopping anything. Every study also says you emit virus particles when you are talking and breathing. The cloth masks do nothing to stop them.

This is social engineering. They are getting people use to wearing masks for a time when n95 becomes available for everyone. So people don't say why wasn't I told to wear a mask before.

The key point to remember here is that everyone walking around with a cloth mask is basically walking around with no protection, so if we dont need protection now, the virus probably isnt as catchy as they are saying.

-3
Farmerbob1 -3 points ago +1 / -4

Simple masks do not protect YOU. They protect the OTHER people around you.

2
randomusename 2 points ago +2 / -0

They dont protect other people, the virus particles go right through them.

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/04/150422121724.htm

The trial saw 1607 hospital healthcare workers across 14 hospitals in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, split into three groups: those wearing medical masks, those wearing cloth masks and a control group based on usual practice, which included mask wearing.

Workers used the mask on every shift for four consecutive weeks.

The study found respiratory infection was much higher among healthcare workers wearing cloth masks.

The penetration of cloth masks by particles was almost 97% compared to medical masks with 44%.

2
Leatherwood 2 points ago +3 / -1

Unless a mask is fluid repellent, the fluid in the droplet from you creates a path from the inside to the outside of the mask which potential pathogenic microorganisms can use to "escape" to others around you. Not only that, if a mask is not fitted to your face, the air will take the path of least resistance and go around through the gaps between the mask and your face. N-95 masks fit the face very well and the material used in these mask has very high filtration efficiency and liquid repellency. Most of the masks that people are making at home and wearing serve mostly as "placebos".

0
Farmerbob1 0 points ago +2 / -2

False. Provably so with a third-grade level science project. Some part of all the fluid that leaves your body is caught by the mask. Virus bodies are in the captured fluids. Therefore you are capturing some of the virus and preventing it from entering the airspace of others.

Masks are not about 100% protection. Masks are about risk reduction, and even a bandana across the face is better than nothing.

2
Leatherwood 2 points ago +2 / -0

Farmer Bob, I worked for many years for one of the market leader of healthcare PPE in product development R&D so I really do know what I am talking about.

1
VetforTrump 1 point ago +1 / -0

0
VetforTrump 0 points ago +1 / -1

Mask is to see if you are maliable and will get in line for the cattle car. No cattle cars on the trump train baby. Only first class freedom.

1
Farmerbob1 1 point ago +1 / -0

Freedom does not mean you have to be ignorant. Masks, even cheap ones, do help prevent the spread of airborne disease.

10
RealRedneck 10 points ago +10 / -0

I'm wearing a red bandanna because it's fun to walk around like a cowboy. I went into Harbor Freight last week to get a new motor for my tiller. I didn't realize until I left that I went inside with an bandanna and hat on and asked where the engines are at. LOL!

My dad used to rail against the government/police giving tickets for seat-belts and trying to control people. I agreed with him and refused to wear a seat-belt for a while

...until one day out driving, going in excess of 80mph then having a close call, I had an epiphany! It occurred to me that the only thing keeping me inside the car, off of the dashboard, steering-wheel, splattered on the road, or spread through the trees, at speeds over 35mph .. was the seat-belt.

I still agree with my dad. ...And, I wear a seat-belt ...and I make my wife wear a seat-belt ...and I make my kids wear seat-belts. In fact, I make any non-adult who gets into a vehicle I drive wear a seat-belt.

I also still rant against the police or government telling me what to do, or how to live. Seat-belts, fireworks, guns, etc. are all within my Rights; it's my life; it's my freedom, and they have no right telling me what to do.

If someone told me I could NOT jump off of a bridge; I'm not going to go jump off of a bridge to spite them.

I think this is ALL over-hyped by the media. I think they are using it to attack President Trump, hurt the economy, and generally try to use it to their advantage. I also think that President Trump is being responsible, and I would rather not expose myself or my family to ANY disease or sickness; INCLUDING the flu!

The truth is ...nothing has changed. I still have to weigh the risks of going to work, earning a living, buying food, driving alongside reckless buffoons, and generally co-existing with idiots against me and my families safety.

2
DivvyDivet 2 points ago +2 / -0

Someone asked me today if I thought wearing the mask would protect me.

My response was "From the virus no, but from being ticketed yes".

Well, the left is quite fond of dominating the language in order to deceive people. When you hear them talking you can always see these loaded buzzwords and phrases. They infused society with them in a way that these things are widely known and recognized, which means they don't have to argue their shitty points, but it's enough to pull them up and pretend they had a valid point even if it was debunked thousands of times already.

It's a way of intellectual, asymmetric warfare - they spew a stupid phrase, you have to respond in length in order to prove them wrong. They can be stupid and devoid of any original or educated thought, and still take part in conversations.

2
Shalomtoyou 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't know. I deserve to be banished to a re-education gulag in China, where loving democommies can program me to believe humans can right now control with absolute, predictable precision what the temperature will be 100 years from today—to the tenth of a degree Celsius, according to Senator Gore—but not next week or tomorrow. The TV weather forecaster being wrong is so common, it's a cliché.

Then if happen to talk started to just say, that mask doesn't work you know.

Now?... yeah rude I admit, encountered two people on my walk I flat out said "you're an idiot wearing that mask".

It's just so fucking stupid. These fear mongering lemmings need to be ridiculed. I'm done with it. They're delusional, like a man thinking he's a female. Must be treated as such. No more capitulation.

27
TennesseePride 27 points ago +28 / -1

The only thing they are going to do is limit your spreading it if you already got it. If you are trying to protect yourself from getting it, you're pretty much wasting your time.

commies0ride0free 21 points ago +22 / -1

I saw a meme on the trash heap Facebook about somebody wiping down everything that came into their house, like groceries. I thought “dang that’s pretty unrelateable, nobody’s doing that”

The commons were CHOCK FULL of people talking about how they wipe down every single package with Lysol wipes, quarantine stuff in their car or bathtubs for days and then take a shower when they’ve put everything away just to be safe. To me, that sounds absolutely insane. If this thing had the kill rate of Ebola and/or someone in my family was higher risk I might take a little more precaution but this is seriously misguided

13
TennesseePride 13 points ago +13 / -0

I unfortunately have a high risk person in my house, so I am doing a lot of what you are saying. It drives you half crazy after a while, and I hate it.

11

The useful idiots already have an answer for that.

"But it DOES help you from getting COVID! Otherwise why would all the nurses be wearing masks?"

"Even if it doesn't help, it MIGHT help, so why take a chance?"

"Oh by the way your particular mask won't help at all because of the material it's made from. Just stay inside dude."

And I hear the following A LOT:

"My grandma and all her friends have been knitting masks non-stop for people...and I'm making my own too!"

Maybe I'll send stormtroopers after the Millennium Falcon too.

7

I’m sure there was a post on here earlier where a guy’s wife saw a motorcycle cop, without a mask, pull over a guy, on his own in a pickup, without a mask. Pickup guy got a ticket that was about $1000.00 for not wearing a mask.

3

2
Epicsoundwaves 2 points ago +2 / -0

I live in commiefornia and curious if there's a way to fight getting a ticket for not wearing a mask. I'm an idiot, but if it's not a law it's not illegal and you can't get a ticket right? Am I missing something?

What if we already had it and well beyond quarantine time, do we need to still wear a mask?

2
smilieface 2 points ago +2 / -0

I would think so? It seems so illegal to fine people for not wearing a mask, but than I've seen that video of the guy forced off of the bus by like ten cops

2

That video is the only reason I have an old bandana in my purse... Not getting pinned to the ground for not having one!!

2

2
Epicsoundwaves 2 points ago +2 / -0

Dang, not fun. If I was at work it would be the worst thing for me to not wear one. Glad I'm not there lol but yeah it's a hill that's fun to fight on, but not willing to die on.

7
WinstonSmith1984 7 points ago +7 / -0

I don't care if somebody wants to wear a mask. Maybe they have a cold and don't want to blow snot all over the place.

I just don't think they can be mandatory, and I don't need one and I'm not wearing one.

oh this meme brings me back to my psychological breakdown 6 years ago, me working night shift in some modern shitty factory that was intentionally short on workers on the production floor while simultaneously over staffed with ladies from Human Resources and the "Health and Safety" dept.

Anyway long story short I started hallucinating and having visions of boxcares and concentration camps. I was looking around at my co-workers and I realized that most of them would carry out orders from above to pack their countrymen onto cattle cars if they were ordered to. I went through a tough period of my life.

I'm doing much better these days and President Trump really helped when he came on the scene in early 2016 I started watching him and saw all his support. I realized I wasn't totally crazy, that I wasn't the only person that was seeing something wasn't right.

I agree, most of these people who are really digging the quarantine would turn on me and my family in a heartbeat if they were ordered to. I fear they are a bigger threat to my well being than the China virus.

There is a substantial portion of the population that experiences high levels of anxiety when confronted with uncertainty of outcome. In some cases, certain death is preferable to them over unknown or uncertain life outcome.

These folks will act to alleviate their own anxieties in unpredictable and potentially irrational ways. The insistence on wearing a mask and taking sensible steps to minimize your own exposure eventually expands to demanding others wear a mask, which is eventually required under force of law, which leads to additional public safety laws.

It's a spiral that feeds on fear and anxiety.

I know a lefty who would rather die than take an anti-malaria drug that’s been administered millions of times over the last half century with minimal risk or side effects, and yet he would be first in line to get injected with any new “vaccine” the media tells him to get regardless of legitimate concerns about efficacy or long term complications. That’s where we’re at with scientific and medical literacy in this country.
