No, do hundereds of thousands of people die every year from the flu? Yes. We know there are asymptomatic cases and mild cases so I can bet you that many people who have had it rode it out at home and never went and got tested. I know that's exactly what I would do.
Unless they get tested can only go based on symptoms. But I know people who had the COVID symptoms and were sick for a couple weeks and recovered. I know others who got confirmed tests of COVID and rode it out at home with a light fever (these would obviously be marked as confirmed cases).

There are tons of people who have gotten it and just rode it out a home. I personally know of such cases. Those aren't included in those statistics.
