These doctors chose to go into emergency medicine as a career path after paying a quarter million in tuition.

Nah, theses are medical residents, not doctors. That’s the equivalent of training wheels on a kids bicycle.
Despite the false equivalency of numbers being presented by garbagebin, these people are witnessing hundreds and hundreds of people expiring in a single day for many days in a row from a single disease.
I looked up the numbers and found at most 200 people a day expire in the city. If 700 people die in a single day, that’s a large discrepancy from what one would expect to see as a doctor in training.
This is just another post trying to paint the decisions Trump made as incorrect.
Uhh, way more than 700 people die per day in NYC normally. There are also over 60 hospitals in NYC and not all 700 deaths die in hospitals. Its not out of line to expect 10 deaths per hospital per day in a big city like NY. If ED or critical care doctors can't handle seeing people die, they are in the wrong field. Better for them to learn that now while they are still training and can switch specialties than to be stuck in those fields as an attending and kill themselves from trauma in a few years.
I bet our boys in uniform never expected to see so many of their fellow soldiers die in Iraq, but I didn't see NBC propagandizing about that.
Maybe you misread. New York CITY does not have 255,000 deaths a year.
The average for the city is 75,000 per year for all deaths combined. That’s 200 a day. Again, for all causes of death combined.
Look, I don’t like or trust any MSM talking points or opinions, but whatever is being portrayed by the OP is part of his own agenda. He will have to start showing his sources if he’s going to make claims that are purposely incorrect.

Maybe NBC want to paint a picture of death and despair, but the fact remains that 700 people drowning in a pool of their own saturated lungs is “nightmarish” and can be described as such.
You'll see much worse than that as a doctor in ICUs and ERs. If that gives you nightmares, you might very well need to look into a different specialty, or perhaps a different career.
I think their position of not imagining seeing this much death so early in their careers is valid. This, however, is besides the point.
My problem is more so with the OP who purposely creates false titles to support his agenda. Unless you’re willing to call him out for misleading you on the daily death tolls in the city, you have been fooled.
According to nyc.gov, the average reported deaths since 1966 is around 60K a year. Divided by 365 is 164 deaths per day. Even if I took the highest year of 90K deaths in the late 1960’s you don’t get to 250 deaths per day. There’s no need to wildly embellish a statistic to support an opinion and present it as fact.

My buddy works in the ny er, has been alarmist about covid and hates trump and even he said it slowed down a lot. It sounded like it never really got that bad at his hospital in manhattan

You can get stories like these because they funneled everyone into hospitals and then murdered the suffering with forced over pressured ventilators.
Imagine the terror - they say people feel like they’re drowning and try to remove the ventilator (which is damaging their lungs) so THEY RESTRAIN THE PATIENTS who then slowly and painfully die unable to move their arms to take out the tube that is killing them.
