If you find the cross where Jesus died for our sins creepy you are probably into some really sick stuff.
Some people might find it feels creepy because a lot of people don't really see the cross other than associated with death these days especially with things like they usually symbolising graves. The cross was used as a sort of outdoor coffin.
I don't think that's the reason though in cases like these.
