Two years back I mentioned on our earlier site that hopefully we'll see 10% GDP growth soon, and anything less is small minded.
Now of course people made fun of that statement, and looks like we'll be exceeding that 10% easily in the near future. But this isn't quite what I had in mind.
I am tipping a full 100% the next time I get to go to my favorite bar and sit down for a solid meal and a drink. I have missed out on many weekends of “entertainment” and the waiters and waitresses and bartenders deserve it. I may continue that tradition for a few weeks, but I know these people are not hurting much due to our state unemployment and Trump giving an extra $600 a week for them.
We will come back bigger and stronger and better than ever before.
The only "new normal" we need is to continue better hygiene practices.
The amount of shit that wasn't ever being truly cleaned until this disease started spreading is absolutely astounding.
Bio-weapon or accident, intentional or not, it doesn't matter. We can't take the risk that a bad actor can take our economy down again because we can't keep ourselves clean. This is a matter of national security. That is the new normal.
