Idk seems like having both up and memeing would be better than keeping a subreddit with 800,000 readers totally silent while this site is starting to fall back in Alexa's site rankings for the US.

I think it's a bit unclear. Are they saying it's too much work to do without those other mods that got demodded? Isn't there ways to slow down a subreddit if the workload is too much? What about these "temporary mods" how come that process stopped?
