So, as we're approaching "I told you so" territory, I'm going to have to speak to the people I just stopped arguing with. My brother is an influential Hollywood type guy who's anti Trump and my friend is a Bernie supporter. Both were sure there would be bodies in the street and mass death. This second guy was so sure of himself that he said if there weren't bodies in the street, he's vote for Trump in the general election. Last week he was complaining about being unable to find q-tips, and Trump should order the army base my friend used to work at to make more...talk about moving goalposts!
As tempting as it would be to rub it in their faces that they were wrong, I want to use this as a way to get them thinking maybe they were wrong about other things (Russia, Ukraine, the economy in general, other TDS shit I've forgotten.) Can any pede share advise on how to do this positively and productively? Remember, were all Americans, and our goal is to save people from the fake news.
They were so wrong man so fucking wrong. Slaves to models that were proven wrong and wrong again. Problem is they will always say see social distancing worked. But they are idiots and believe that saves lives when the whole point of social distancing was to lessen the burden on the health care system. Maybe in secondary it helped save lives, sure. Now the health care system is caught up. I live in Michigan and hospitals are furloughing employees by the hundreds. This is because they stopped elective procedures. Hospitals became dependent on the federal funding for covid patients and deaths. If you farted in the hospital and died they marked it as covid. Dr. Birx said that out loud, we took a very liberal approach to covid deaths. Look at the pneumonia numbers this year compared to where they were for the past 5 years. How can you explain that? Disease is real, sure. Hype and fear is not real and we all fell for it. Atleast I did the first two weeks. Now people are seeing how everything we were told is proving to be wrong. The economy is shitting and the sick part is I think some fools are happy about that. In end, libs will never see it. Facts speak louder than some bullshit statistical data. They don’t want us to have hope or happiness. That’s why we had a gridlock in Lansing Michigan. These fools have no idea what will happen if they keep draconian measures in place based on some numbers that are less than the flu. Fuck them!
I feel your frustration, but my brother is still influential. He's recently produced a bit on the covid that I can assure you millions of Americans will see soon. He has Emmys. He's one of the smartest people I know (entertainment, not journo.) There right word in his ear will be better than anything I can post here. I can't just throw up my hands.
HAHA that felt good to type, it was more of a way to vent. We are all ready for the "I told you so" moment.
