Typical Travis Co though. Luckily we're not to this point yet in Hays Co but we'll get there soon enough if we don't get to go back to work soon. Austin is always bleeding south.
In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, the City of Austin and Travis County are now requiring people to wear a cloth face covering or mask whenever they leave home.
"Whenever they leave home?" This is STILL bullshit!
Safety, protection, common sense = keep whatever sort of covering you're using DRY. That means not wearing it when not necessary. CCP virus spreads by droplets. The farthest these droplets can travel is a strong sneeze, 15'. With a strong tailwind, another 15'. If you're more than 30' away from anyone, there is no chance that bandana is going to help you or anyone else.
Most people don't go strong sneezing downwind into you from every direction all at once, but still 6' may not offer as much protection as we've been led to believe. Brief periods when you can't help but be around a lot of people, your dry mask in place might (might) actually help reduce this crap spreading.
Then there's all the problems of touching stuff, touching your mask, touching your face. The mask police are going to throw us in mask jail now?
Not so fun fact: government research has shown that the standard surgical mask can have the virus live on it for up to 7 days. Ick.
I live in Austin. I saw some people turned away without masks. So no its not 100% optional to wear a mask if you want to do something. Mayor here is like Pol Pot II.
That being said - judging by places like Tokyo - masks are the first and only thing we should have done for the most part. So unlike most conservatives I am not anti-mask.
Most states/towns can mandate clothing - so I don't think mandating masks is that outrageous. But shutting down all work - taking the nets out of tennis courts - WTF. These guys are just being vindictive.
Leftists deny this - but they take the same approach with the homeless. Mayor tried to let the homeless camp out on the streets. This was vindictive because clearly this is not good for public health - or homeless people.
Masks in Tokyo: this is largely due to pollen. Also people that are sick wear a mask to keep from infecting other people. This actually helps, if you're close. (6' might not give as much protection as we've been told)
So in some places, if we hadn't been told "don't wear a mask" this might have spread less. I certainly would have bought masks. Can't believe I fell for Fauci's bs.
Check out lanes in stores used to be impossible to avoid 6'. Now, most stores around my region have tape on the floor keeping people apart. Not right near me, people are nice. Still, the checkout lanes are different than they used to be. This might have helped? Mass transit for sure.
Plans to demonstrate? Hell the liberals here are going to gladly wear those masks and like it, people even got their kids wearing masks, I saw a BABY with a mask on, Dallas is a lost cause.
I'm in LA and just saw a Mexican nanny with no mask pushing a baby with a mask. Meanwhile another neighbor, who has apparently deputized himself, is driving thru with a bullhorn telling the Mexicans detailing another neighbor's cars to "put on your masks!"
I think Williamson will open up by 5/1. Our judge got himself into a bit of trouble with this and I'm sure he's going to want to put this in the rear view mirror soon. Plus our county has been dropping steadily on the list of reported infections.
Don't know how it is in other parts of Texas but here in Dallas we're being mandated by court order to wear masks starting tomorrow, this is bullshit.
This is true in Travis county where the deep blue city of Austin is. Furthermore the H-E-B supermarkets in Austin require it as well.
Which is why the next time I go, I'm going in full cowboy getup completely with bandanna. They need to remember what state they're in.
Do this! Texas is my fave state besides MN, where I live.

I'm pretty sure the current situation is gonna be a huge wake-up call for the whole country.
Wonder if they would toss you for wearing a shirt that reads “you’re not sick, you’re friends aren’t sick, and neither am I”
This isn't true its literally 100% optional to wear a mask
In fact "bro" there are way more people in austin walking dogs, walking in general, driving and going to stores not wearing masks than those who are
There is NO mandate anywhere in austin requiring a mask and your post is bullshit and only got upvoted cus it slams austin

I heard that mic drop from Pennsylvania.

Austin deserves it.
SLAM! SLAM! SLAM!
I'm in Dallas as well. Clay Jenkins is asshoe. Do we know of any plans to demonstrate downtown? Should we start something?
Bone Thugs started playing in my head when I saw your nick

This was at the courthouse. I’ll post when we do another one. We still have a long way to go in this fight.
Even John Wiley Price knows liberty better than Clay.
John. Wiley. Price.
There was a protest at the Dallas townhall today at noon I heard.
I heard about that. Fully expect it to spread to the other counties in DFW too. One of the counties needs to resist. Hopefully mine for my own sake.
Collin County judge is way better. I expect them to open first. Then it'll fall like dominoes.

Ho Lee Phuck! This is the first time I've seen it in print. Jail time. Fines. For "anyone found in public"
People should fight this. I doubt the Judge does. $1,000 fine is nothing to him.

We have more guns. A LOT more. We need to make the tyrants afraid.
