God, I can only hope my son comes to this conclusion. He doesn't support the Dims but is a fervent Bernie Bro. He can not understand why I love Trump and I can't understand how he can not.
Listen. I've been through some really rough times with this daughter. Especially during 2015. She didn't speak to me for a year because of my support for Trump. It hurt so much, I really felt absolutely devastated that my daughter would just toss me away like that over politics. People kept telling me to be patient with her and just be her mother. And that's what I did. I didn't bring up politics and when she did I changed the subject. She moved earlier this year and I went to help her pack and then went back to help her on moving day. I still called her and took her to dinner for her birthday, sent cards just to say hey. (I'm one of those people that still will send snail mail cards bc I think it matters).
I did all that knowing she said our future relationship depended on what happened in November this year. Because I'm her mother. She can walk away from me over politics if that's what she wants to do but I won't be doing the same.
So yeah, getting that text today brought tears to my eyes. And I'm telling you all this just to say just be mom or dad, whichever applies. Show them the way with your actions.
Crazy that we can get separated from our kids by who we voted for, isn't it. My son has finally accepted that I love our President and will never change my mind, although he tries. He lives in Italy and teaches English at a University there and can out talk me every time. I will never win a point. So I guess all we can be is a Mom and love them. Bless you, keep the faith and KAG
It's a sign of the times. But to be clear, these times come and go, and have reoccurred throughout history. While The Patriot isn't the most historically accurate movie on the Revolution in a lot of ways, it does depict a very real and accurate situation that can arise out of politics (Where Gibson's character and his son [Heath Ledger] are in disagreement, politically, as to whether or not America should go to war. Gibson is just looking out for his son, and having fought in wars himself, is scared to see his son's advocacy for Revolution and desire to fight in it, so Gibson remains a loyalist. Still, he remains a father, first. Though ultimately it's Gibson that comes around, politically, and more motivated by [Spoiler alert if you're really late to the game] vengeance against the Red Coats that killed his kids)
Forgive her. From your description, I can guarantee she is in or has been to college, because that’s where she was brainwashed. That kind of thing is just not normal.
My brother has a similar feeling about Trump. He ranted to me the other day because I played one of the press briefings. I’ve never been able to get him to explain what it is about our President that triggers him so much.
Deep down though, I know what it is. Donald Trump has been sent by God. It’s a spiritual thing. Those who are under the thrall of evil are repulsed by a son of God, just as we are repulsed by the likes of the children of Satan (ex. Nancy Pelosi)
All we can do is pray for them; that they may one day repent, forgive, and see the light.
I used to be a hardcore Bernie Bro too. I canvassed for him here in CA and even went to canvass for him in Phoenix for a couple of days before the Arizona primaries. However, I grew disenchanted with him and the left in general. It first started when I got to see how radical and full of hatred the left was becoming. Initially, when I was volunteering with Bernie in Phoenix, most of my fellow volunteers were great people. We didn't care whether you were Republican or Democrat. We believed that while there were some evil people out there, most just had different views on how to make America better. When I was volunteering for Bernie in CA, I mentioned to my fellow volunteers about the mass rape that Muslim migrants were committing in Europe (i.e. Sweden & Colonge, Germany). To my surprise, no-one seemed interested. This was one of the things that made me walk away. When many on the left hear of crimes committed by minorities, they have no interest, no matter how horrible the crime was. It was as if minorities should be allowed to get away with crimes, even those as horrible as rape. When I was accepted to serve as a one-day student lobbyist in Sacramento in college, one of the speakers who spoke to the students told everyone that America was a racist country in which African-Americans were suppressed. But he only gave examples of discrimination before the civil rights era and even told the audience that he wanted to protect young African-Americans from "white ideologies." I guess he didn't quite like representative democracy, constitutionalism, and separation of powers. Despite his comments, almost everyone in the room clapped. When I mentioned that we should try to bridge gaps between campus clubs of various political persuasions. I was snubbed. Beforehand, I had thought that we on the left were the "good side." However, my time at the university along with news I saw coming from other campuses, proved me wrong. I then began to see news and youtube vids that introduced me to right's perspective. All of this helped me shift more and more towards the right. I know many on here don't like Ben Shapiro, but he was vital in helping me make that shift. John Stossel videos on youtube also helped me and my parents lose confidence in leftist economics. If you want to redpill your son, John Stossel, Larry Elder, and Thomas Sowell vids might help. Dave Rubin's first interview with Larry Elder may redpill your son like it red pilled Dave haha. Sorry for the long post. I hope your are able to convert your fam!
Thank you for that. It just gets me that these young folks think that this is the worst country in the world. Bless their little hearts - they could have been born in any number of shithole countries and they should be extremely grateful that they were born in the greatest country ever. I tried to explain to my son that anytime the gov't gets involved in anything, they fuck it up. We had this conversation regarding Obama care. We all know how that turned out. In the 90s I had breast cancer and Kaiser covered ALL the surgeries, chemo and radiation. I think I paid $50 out of pocket. My bosses wife was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma recently and is undergoing chemo and various other procedures. My boss has probably put out about $30K in fees so far.- this is Kaiser. Anyway, thank you for the info - and don't forget to KAG

This alone is reason enough to disown that immature ungreatful little shit. Show some self respect and tell her get her shit together or get lost

Find common ground in populism.
Then he has no place else to go. He will come to it in his own time
