I am a very literary type, and being borderline autistic about some things, I get very picky about the way things should be worded.
I'll go to look up a passage online where you can view various versions of the passage from different versions of the Bible. There is nothing that I know of written past the KJV revision that does anything other than take AWAY meaning from certain scriptures. Some things were written in the original with a double meaning or an existential meaning, and modern translations don't pick those meanings up because the overly simplistic and rudimentary wording and phrasing whitewashes it out.
The NASB isn't just a rewording of KJV. It's based on researching the original texts and writing things in the most accurate way, leaving any subjective interpretation up to the reader. Of course, any translation isn't perfect, so learn Greek and Hebrew if you really want to know what the Bible says.
