Isn't this going to tank in the long run? I have friends who are servers at restaurants (some fine dining and some just your franchise restaurants like Chilis) pulling $875 a week. Hell, if it wasn't for my job's medical insurance I'd get fired just to draw unemployment at $875 a week. Cannot fathom how all these people are now getting paid MORE to be unemployed.

I guess in some industries, nobody cares about a gap in unemployment. I certainly would ask what they did during this gap and it better be something useful than laying around high all day.
I know I have one friend who works at a fine dining restaurant (which is phenomenal and he loves it and it looks like that will be his career since we are in our 30s). He is sitting back doing just that and just going to draw this check until the restaurant opens back up.
Home Depot and Walmart are hiring sign his ass up.
While the restaurant is closed, no problem, that's an excuse and since the job available after, not really a gap in employment. I'm thinking of the people that get called back and refuse to go because free government money is easier. That 6-12 month gap can be a career killer for some, maybe not in the restaurant business.
If they are called back to work and they refuse, that's equivalent to quitting their job and they should technically no longer be able to receive UC. But I'm sure people will find a way to abuse the system like always
