Government employee here, haven’t missed a check but also haven’t missed a day of work. I agree the shutdowns are bullshit and the government should practice what they preach. Time to get back to work.

Same, and same.

Remember the sob stories from the last government shutdown, I think it lasted 4 days and they all got the money. Now the public sector is told to grin and bear it.

Local government employee here. I've got co-workers that are upset they aren't getting a paid covidcation, but are instead working regular hours at their jobs. Unbelievable entitlement. Granted these are just the older employees feeling that way. My fellow millenials, Xers, and Zers are happy to be working.

I’m not saying millennials don’t have their own shortcomings but there are some really entitled older folks at the place I work. Heck they are letting the older drama-filled ones go.

This may be unpopular here, but I do not agree with this.

I am assuming you are targeting politicians, as they are still collecting their $180k+ salaries. But if we stop paying them we just let the rich bully the less wealthy into submission. Nancy Pelosi can afford to not take a salary for a decade, so can Chuck Schumer and the other wealthy. Lots of less known less corrupt politicians simply can not afford that, and how many of these politicians might vote on bullshit policies just to open back up and continue collecting a paycheck because they are about to miss their mortgage, about to default on their loans, and cant pay their bills.

This is one of the things that sounds good, but wont work in practice. I do think we need a better way to hold them accountable and come to a solution, but I do not think withholding their pay is the solution.

That's why people shouldn't hold office if they don't already have their life together. It's not supposed to be a career or a livelihood. The way I see it, anyone who needs their government check is already gonna pass retarded policies just to stay in office, like the entire welfare scheme. One more instance doesn't change much, especially if it means everyone else can get back to work or the politician suffers with them. Add it to the long list of shit we need to undo.

I get the whole point of the salary being to dissuade corruption but when it allows people to live better than they would outside of politics, it just ends up breeding it. They care more about keeping that nicer life instead of actually serving the public well,

I see your point and I can’t disagree. But at that point we will have to raise the minimum age of politicians to like 65, as it would only be obtainable by those who are retired and don’t need to work (or the very wealthy who don’t need a paycheck)

You'd have to exempt the military from this. Active duty folks don't deserve to be punished for the corruption of the Dim Party. :-\

House should have wages cut until they provide assistance for small business.

Scumbag politicians are the most non-essential workers in America. If you could even call them 'workers'!!!

Banpen 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm local government guy. I've already donated part of my TrumpBux to local businesses and friends that aren't as fortunate to be "essential" like me.

Getting paid in tax dollars, whether I'm working or not, is one thing... getting EXTRA tax dollars is another. Even though I'm out in the wilds during this bullshit, I'm still just doing my normal job as always. It doesn't feel right.

You seem like a good person. You should find a private sector gig.

Stop paying Congress. They get enough money from all their illegal money laundering on the side that they will never be held accountable for.

Not quite a government employee (work at a national lab) but 100% this. I would gladly pay back the last months worth to see government employees play by the same rules as everyone else.

In regard to politicians where I think this comment was aimed... Taking their checks is like taking the cherry off their ice cream sundae. They make millions off of advanced knowledge to trade on the stock market. Taking their checks won’t do anything. Lock their bank accounts or drag them out in the street French Revolution style.

Tell you what, how about every flu season from here on you stay locked indoors from say....Nov - Apr.

Because the numbers clearly show that the seasonal flu has killed far more people globally than this fake-ass, media-hyped zombie virus.

But its not though.

As more and more data floods in, the death rates are approaching normal flu death rates,

We started at 3.4% then 1% and as more and more antibody tests are coming in, the infection rates are being shown to be MUCH higher. 50X higher than thought, so lets cut it down to 10x higher, and what do you know, its .1% which is the flu death rates.

Yeah, but its not.

That's where you are wrong; I think for myself. On the other hand, you are apparently watching far too much CNN.

Quick fact: The Houston TX metro area has approx 6.5 million people. In 4 months, China flu has killed a total of 46 people. All aged and with comorbidities.

I'm really shaking in my boots....
