Ive always thought that can see the camera had much to do with the roles that were played too. The passive inmates and controlling guards attitudes were played up because they all knew they were being recorded on camera. Guards dressed up and even look like they are acting tough for the camera. Thats much more interesting now when you relate that to everyone carrying a camera phone in their pockets now.
