The lawsuits coming out of this debacle better be fucking huge to ensure that this shit never happens again. And any cops willfully arresting citizens for no fucking reason are disgusting brown shirts. My support of law enforcement is at an all time low. The FBI, CIA, NSA, and now local law enforcement are all on my shit list now.

I thought qualified immunity made it pretty much impossible to sue a police officer. My opinion after reading /r/bad_cop_no_donut for a few years is that cops can pretty much do whatever they want as long as they don’t make their bosses angry - and even then they still get away with it half the time. And when they don’t get away with it they will get a far lighter punishment than other people who commit the same offense.

Don't want to go into too much detail, but noticed one day that every single reddit account I had ever made, spanning many years, made from dozens of different IPs, some aged 7+ years, were all SUSPENDED for "calls to violence." Reddit admins had clearly figured out my identity and entire online footprint. Then the FBI came around asking me questions to implicate myself, which I did not offer them answers to. Then they went away.

They clearly knew all the questions they were asking me, they just wanted to get me to lie. They called me on the phone though, which they probably knew that I knew that phone numbers can be spoofed, they wanted to record me lying with me thinking it was an imposter.

Can you explain the Hong Kong reference? My understanding is HK was land leased by Great Britain, a 99 year lease. At the end of the lease, the city was returned to China. There were guarantees given that Hong Kong residents would retain the freedoms they were accustomed to under British rule. But, China began limiting their freedoms and the Hong Kong protests began.
