Some people go against the grain and are part of the counter-culture. Lennon was that. Today, the counter-culture is MAGA. In my opinion, there is a good chance that Lennon would have rejected fascism and supported free speech. He could have been a positive voice. Lennon was anything but predictable, which is why I think it would be entirely possible.
