It still amazes and depresses me that there was so little blowback. Reno didn't even have to resign. She said she took responsibility and the average American said, well that's good. Somebody took responsibility. Case closed.

So tragic.

The internet wasn't what it is now. I don't think a lot of people fully understood what was really happening.

That's a very good point.

Most people don't even know this happened today. Those that do know it as some standoff with some crazies who did "something bad"

TO SAVE THE CHILDREN!! we must send tanks, helicopters and snipers, it was the only way.....

But first we must terrorize them, deprive them of sleep for weeks, play torture sounds and strobe lights, again, to save the children we must terrorize them first, and then send in the tanks.

i wasn't born yet either. All I know is some crazy dude led what could be called a "cult", had a lot of guns, and long story short the government burnt a bunch of women and children alive instead of just going after the guy who was actually a problem (alleged sex with minors, to put it very lightly)

The sad state of education. No wonder harvard wants to close down home schooling. Kids might learn how to think.

We did, we just weren't connected.

At least my family knew exactly what was happening, and so we were taking inventory of our guns and making sure we had plenty of ammo.

Good old Deep State FBI leading the charge against Americans even back then...

After he is elected, POTUS should disband the FBI, fire every single employee, revoke every single clearance, and then form a new agency with people that he has carefully vetted. Maybe a handful of the current FBI will be included, maybe none of them.

Absolutely. The FBI has been crooked and corrupt since it was founded. They are a disgrace from top to bottom.

And he should erase the ATF entirely.

ATF should be a nightclub, not a government agency.

Also they played the Jim Jones card so everyone looked at it with a different perspective.

Tbh I hadn't known that. It explains so much. 'Well they were all going to be poisoned to death anyway, so maybe incinerating them wasn't so bad.'

Obviously that's still pretty weak thinking but but trust in government was higher then than now.

Dr_Falsey 11 points ago +11 / -0

They don’t care how weak the thinking is, the just mainly care about making sure there’s a seed planted where the jump from one rationale to another is not an insurmountable one.

There was extreme blowback, so extreme a federal building exploded. The militia movement was huge back then and there were an awful lot of them that were really itching to kick things off but kids getting blown up in a federal building made most of them lose their taste for it.
