Tbh I hadn't known that. It explains so much. 'Well they were all going to be poisoned to death anyway, so maybe incinerating them wasn't so bad.'

Obviously that's still pretty weak thinking but but trust in government was higher then than now.

They don’t care how weak the thinking is, the just mainly care about making sure there’s a seed planted where the jump from one rationale to another is not an insurmountable one.
