Yes but it's encrypted and more difficult for someone to penetrate. In other words it's harder for someone with bad intent to join a group.

If you prefer, pick another messaging app.

WhatsApp is popular among my Spanish speaking friends (and Bro Covfefe and I use it) but my Persian friends use either Telegram or Vibr (?)

All communications are stored somewhere and someone has the key. Even keystrokes you delete are stored.
