Why would you expect law enforcement to act any differently than they ever have? All government tyranny ever, in history, was made possible by police doing their "job".
If there were any justice, there would be US Marshal sting operations to arrest police doing these kinds of things and then the police (and the people ordering them) would be kept in plexiglass jail cells so the public could mock them.
