Fuck no there is not. They are getting their hours slashed. One person I work with frequently normally leads his dept and has been reduced to wiping down elevator buttons to stay on the clock. There are others that I normally see all the time that have just been not around for weeks. It’s brutal. I’ve asked them how it’s affecting them and they all say they have had to cut back to make ends meet.
Can verify, have some friends and family in hospitals that are working shorter hours because there is almost nothing for them to do. Meanwhile there are people that should be seeing their doctor and are potentially at risk because MSM has them too scared to seek treatment.
Seriously how don't people see this implication in the defense of excess immigration. If those are all doctors and engineers swimming across the Rio Grande, isn't it selfish of you to deny Mexico and Central America their best and brightest? Why do you hate Central America pro-immigration people?
If President Trump said we are going to bring in loads of Doctors from lets say for example Nigeria, they'd all go hysterical that we were robbing Nigeria of doctors and access to healthcare.
Same.
I work PRN, so hadn't scheduled anything for a couple of weeks around Easter. (Family time!)
I called our Director to let her know I'm available for emergencies when all this started. I don't want to go in when it's like this, but I would if I were needed.
Since then, in texts and calls with coworkers I've learned that their hours are slashed drastically, some of the newer hires haven't gone in for weeks. Hard to believe - we're a pretty big hospital in the area. We are a specialized dep't, so that accounts for some of it because routine procedures are off the board, but still...wtf.
That's what the shortage is about. They don't have enough healthcare workers to fill out their dance ensembles.
They need so many nurses for back up dancers. They also desperately need more surgeons to fill out specialty break dancing roles when they cover outdated 2013 hip hop songs, that they think is cool and relevant, but young kids dont even know.
Our entire city has been on lockdown (SF) since well before the rest of the nation. Supposedly because if Covid spreads, the hospitals will be overwhelmed. People are posting photos of empty hospital parking lots, and a week ago the story came out that our healthcare workers from UCSF are now flying to NY to help out there. And we’re all still on lockdown! Some think “for the next two years.” It is totally insane! An experiment in authoritarianism.
You won't starve to death, as you can have your groceries delivered, but you may drown in your bathtub, according to my models, so I am banning all baths until we can be sure not one person will ever drown again.
Work in Biotech and know a handful of nurses, it's all a lie. they are getting hours slashed while the hospitals lie about Wuhan Weeze cases for the 40k each GOV funds. Fucking hospital management are trash. Mostly POC and women liberal whores all
Don’t forget those that couldn’t do or teach. The least competent people go into managing, and once you’ve had a ‘manager’ slot, hospital administration thinks you can manage anything.
I had a fat Karen for a boss who had managed a Pediatric Med Surg floor. Some rocket scientist in administration thought she would know have no problem managing a large, busy OR. They literally gave the job to someone with no surgical experience.
I don't mind training new Residents, nurses, or scrubs in the OR but I'll be damned if I'd even try to train an OR Director on the fly, ffs.
In our OR we'd just operate without her & work past her - no time to deal with that. Luckily we have a fantastic DoN, she's an old nurse (about 75) with bleached blonde hair and blue eye shadow, smokes like a freight train and altho she's only about 5'4", she's a freakin' bulldozer.
She's always on our side when it comes to policy, but expects us to do the right thing. Everyone from orderlies to surgeons just love that old woman. She's forgotten more about nursing than most of us will ever know.
Serious question.
Is there even a healthcare worker shortage right now?
All I see is videos of bored nurses dancing in empty hospitals on instagram and tiktok.

Mexico needs healthcare workers too, send them back.

I always thought it would be better to deport people to shittier shitholes than the one they came from.
If we deported to Saudi Arabia that would stop a lot.
As does El Salvador and Guatemala
If President Trump said we are going to bring in loads of Doctors from lets say for example Nigeria, they'd all go hysterical that we were robbing Nigeria of doctors and access to healthcare.
Healthcare Worker, can confirm this is all correct.

An experiment in attempting to kill us all before we find out they fuck n EAT children!
Honestly, it's like they're flaunting their power..
They love doing their evil out in the open.
That's what happens when power hungry lack-wits get power.
Yes. Originally this was about flattening the curve. The curve is flattened,
Now it is about no one must ever die. It is time to get America back to work!
Oooh, if we stay locked down I can live forever? Niiice!
Oh wait, I'd just starve to death and - worse - so would my children.

Did you drink some stupid juice this morning?
Is he really that wrong though? The people of SF have enabled their overlords over the years and will continue to this November.

Accurate af

Sounds like a good boss.
That’s exactly what we did.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 43,000 healthcare jobs were lost in March 2020
Do you have a link for that? There is so much stuff on this website I have now idea where to look.
found it: https://www.bls.gov/web/empsit/ceshighlights.pdf
Actually the document shows 41K are ambulatory care so it's not like they lost tons of nurses either
