Low paying hospitals have shortages. Unless they are religious affiliated, then some work for the cause, but not many. Of course some of the metro areas like NY have had staffing shortages. This is nothing new in health care. Some seasons are just fucked. This one a little more so due to the PPE situation. PPE is a huge pain in the ass to wear. It's tiring, uncomfortable, hot, and tiring. Makes some claustrophobic. I got used to it doing a lot of procedures, but nonetheless, wearing for 8, 12, 16 hours? Nope. You lost a lot of staff hours just for that.
There's no damned shortage. Hospital censuses are down almost across the board due to people not wanting to go. No electives of course. I have a friend who is a call center nurse (hell) for one of the health-care Giants. Their call volume is even drastically lower. It was extremely high volume at the start of The Media Panic. This call center has 60-70 nurses during the daytime. Nighttime unknown to me.
