George,
"Hollywood has largely closed down as well, at least as far as actual production is concerned. (If this pandemic goes on long enough, I wonder if the pipeline will go dry, and we will start to run out of new films and television shows. If so, sheltering in place is going to get an order of magnitude harder. Television right now is doing a lot to keep us all sane — and no, not the news, which has the opposite effect)."

My answer, that I would've told him had he allowed comments on his blog that's not a blog:
We were going insane watching the trash they were producing for the last decade
Exactly!
No more trash.
I can't name 10 movies over the last ten years that I consider note worthy. (As I sit watching Rear Window...) Most every movie today is a rip off of old movies. (I do admit that many classics are remakes as well) Sometimes they use a different angle but it's still a rip off err they'd call it a homage.... Not much is truly original.
You haven't seen Alita: Battle Angel then.
Strangely I have. It was decent.
Exactly. I am so sick of their gay and feminist bullshit. I pretty much only watch old movies anyway.
George, shut up and finish The Winds of Winter. You've had more than ample time.
Imagine being dependant on Hollywood's trash. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.
What's the backlog of GOOD movies? Not 100 years...
Ha, it's mostly Marvel movies, or the 3rd or 4th remake of a flick from the golden age.
You think I’m going to take serious a man whose fame and fortune came from depicting the constant rape and brutalizations of women in a “fantasy setting”? Cry me a damn river, and I’ll see your name soon enough in the pizzagate headlines.
Yeah, no backlog of movies for me fam.
But, I'm not the norm, since I worked for a couple movie companies... I've seen EVERYTHING worth seeing, pretty much twice. Now I'm going on thrice and more.
Recently I've re-re-rewatched Hunger Games movies, The Hobbit movies, Taken movies, Wick movies, Bourne movies... even started watching Bond movies again, and I've seen each of those a couple dozen times.
That said, I don't give a fuck if Hollywood ever recovers. They can go fuck themselves, and I'll just work a couple hours more in the evening instead of watching a movie.
