I think we need to move beyond this "Imagine if X did Y", and just flat out start saying what we mean, like "Colin Kaepernick donates money solely to individuals with his preferred skin color". Imagining things doesn't make it hit home with the reader.
Saying he has a preferred skin color, which he clearly does, implies he is a racist, which he clearly is. The line of thinking would be "Kaepernick has a preferred skin color? Let me see about this... Well he is giving money to black people and specifically excluding white people. Wait a minute why isn't that totally racist?"
