This virus derailed those plans, which have resorted to Governors asking their Senators to sponsor legislation to bailout State & Local governments for their years & years of budget mismanagement.

I live in NY and have parents who worked their whole life to retire comfortably. Paid into social security. Voted red locally and nationally. And a huge part of that retirement savings is in NY State Municipal bonds. My wife is a NYC teacher who has a union pension. If the state goes bankrupt we lose everything.
New York isn’t just NYC and there are millions of good people who will be ruined if the state defaults.
I hope this is Mitch calling Cuomo’s bluff. If not, it’s a terribly immoral thing to do to working class people, regardless of their political affiliation.
The millions of good people should leave the state and move into red States. Liberals states are shit and expensive
It’s not that easy. I have roots here. Elderly parents and kids in school. Also, a career within an industry grounded in Manhattan. Applying a broad-stroke generalization at a state level is not only short-sighted, it’s dangerous. The last time states had to choose sides things ended up very badly for all Americans.
We have republican congressman in NY. And republican support for those leaders. To label the entire state as ‘shit’ in support of the notion it go bankrupt is beyond dumb.
