Oh they have a religion, it's leftism. The cordyceps spore reached the brain and sprouted a fruiting body. That's the leftism. Christianity was just the mycorrhizal part.

Agnostipede here. We are not all like that. I cannot force myself to believe. Judeo-Christian values are a good thing, and I, being an American, was raised under them.

Dude believe what you want. History is undeniable that the worst humans to ever live have more in common with atheism than Judaism or Christianity. It makes sense, if there is no higher power, you are the ultimate authority. Give that person power and we're off to the murder races. But then again who gives a shit, no religion means murder is NBD if you really want to do it, like abortion.

I am pro-life. This is because I have never heard a principled argument justifying abortion. It is basically a convenience.

I do not believe what I want, I believe that which I believe. I cannot force myself to believe anything other.

As I stated, Judeo-Christian values are good. Those with blind faith in various things have caused all sorts of misery, from those that worshipped a man as a living god (Japan), to those who worshipped the state as a god (communists/socialists).

I include atheists in this group, too, because they have faith that there is no god.

So if you were given a principled argument in favor of abortion you'd change your mind?

For certain values of “principled,” I guess so.

I don’t consider selfishness to fit the bill, though.

I’ve pondered this issue for decades. Haven’t been convinced it’s justifiable (except where mom is literally dying due to carrying the baby).

So you are your ultimate authority on morality. It's a good thing you don't have ultimate power.

I never said I was the ultimate authority. I am glad no single person has ultimate power.

You are for yourself. Your morality comes from your opinion of things. We're just fortunate you have found favor with Judeo Christian philosophy, otherwise you could think there's nothing morally wrong with "punching a Nazi" or robbing someone.

This is my problem with atheism. While I'm a horrible person, and would do all kinds of evil just like everyone else, I don't because I believe in one who is greater than me, who I want to emulate. He is the authority of my morality.

Again, believe what you want, but your interpretation of "good" comes from someone you outright reject and is subject to change based on circumstance or how well evil rationalizes with you.
