I interact with people fairly regularly, and today it struck me that just the idea of a hidden contagion has everyone from friends, business relationships, casual encounters, strangers, and neighbors all suspicious and fearful of each other.
It’s the perfect invisible specter that has done exactly what it was meant to do: Damage not only our massive economy, but our way of life.
Even though it’s now evidently total bullshit that this virus is Armageddon, it will always be there, in the back of our minds. Fear. Even if just a little bit.
We now fear our fellow Americans. These bastards knew it from the start.
People were divided long before this. Societal Norms and instinctual behavior hid it beneath a veneer of civility.
The Veneer is ever so slowly being torn away. What will replace it. None can say. But Society and the country will be drastically changed by the end of the decade. With the coming years likely having an impact far beyond our what we can imagine.
